This itinerary features two nights in Thimphu, Punakha and Paro, the shortest amount of time that you’ll want to spend in each city as you’ll want at least a full day to explore. It’s easy to spend a night or two more in each spot or head to Bumthang and the Gangtey for a taste of rural Bhutan. We’ve also included sightseeing in each place you’ll visit to give you a great introduction to the country.

Hotels in Bhutan can be simple and rustic, so why not upgrade to Amankora hotels for a taste of luxury. The service is fit for a king, and the architecture is simple yet stylish – think clean lines, airy spaces and large windows – letting the dramatic landscapes do the talking.

If you have the time to explore more of south Asia, Bhutan twins perfectly with both Nepal and India and would make for a really interesting and contrasting holiday. Alternatively if you are just looking for some relaxation at the end of a culture heavy week, why not fly to Goa via Delhi to spend a few nights on a beach.
