Dragon Lights to Island Rites
A 10-night, multi-centre trip that takes you from Hong Kong to Bali's intriguing interior and beautiful beach.

This trip gives you a brilliant three-part contrast: Hong Kong for big-city energy, Ubud for culture and green-space calm, then Nusa Dua for beach time with everything nicely taken care of. You get skyline, street food, markets, rice paddies, rainforest, temples, and beach in one smooth route, with private transfers and hand-picked stays making the whole thing feel effortless. The clever bit is the order. Hong Kong gives you a fast and fun opening, Ubud slows things down with yoga, waterfalls, and Balinese craft, and Nusa Dua brings all-out relaxation at the end.
Itinerary overview
Highlights of trip
Hong Kong
After the flight, keep things easy and settle in, then head out for a first wander through Kowloon, the Jade Market, the Flower Market or the city’s neon-lit streets. Your time in the city includes a Hong Kong Street Food tour in Sham Shui Po, one of the city’s most vibrant neighbourhoods. This half-day experience is all about proper local flavour. Optional experiences can also be added while you’re here. We recommend the Hong Kong Explorer tour for a fuller introduction to the city, linking Hong Kong Island and Kowloon by classic local transport.
World-class service meets modern luxury at this stylish sanctuary in the heart of Hong Kong
Ubud
After Hong Kong’s full-volume energy, Ubud gives you room to breathe: rice paddies, temples, jungle, craft shops, excellent cafés and the kind of slow mornings you’ll be very ready for. Our top pick for a day out is the Balikaru Explorer. It’s a full-day trip, usually with an early start and a late-afternoon return, and it gives you a much richer look at Bali than the usual stop-and-snap circuit. You’ll trek through rainforest near Mount Batukaru, visit villages, explore herbal and spice gardens, have lunch at Warung Balikaru, learn about Trigona bee farming, hear bamboo music, soak in hot springs and stop by Pengempu Waterfall.
An intimate hideaway overlooking Ubud’s glorious terraced rice paddies.
A leafy Ubud retreat where river valley views, rainforest paths, and kind Balinese hospitality come together beautifully.
Nusa Dua
Next, transfer from Ubud to Nusa Dua. This is your beach finale: calm water, villa-style comfort, and time to enjoy Bali horizontally. But it’s not just sun, sea, and strategic lounging. We’ve included the Western Bali by Vintage VW Jeep experience, which takes you beyond the resort to Tanah Lot, Bali’s famous sea temple, Batukaru, a temple on the slopes of Mount Batukaru, Jatiluwih’s rice terraces, and Ulun Danu Temple, the photogenic water temple that appears to float on the lake.
On the southern shores of Bali, grand but intimate The Royal Santrian is home to 20 ridiculously photogenic all-pool villas.
Beach swap
Want to switch up the beach ending? Seminyak works well if you want restaurants, boutiques, and a more social scene. The Gilis add a more island-hopping feel, and Lombok is the quieter, more spacious alternative.
This sumptuous resort with impeccable service is one of Seminyak’s best and is perfect for couples.
Five-star hotel featuring a Family Club, aquarium dining, ocean-facing fitness centre and 60-metre swimming pool
No cars, no crowds. Just bikes, barefoot walks and the soundtrack of waves on Gili Meno’s most serene shore.
This secluded beachfront escape promises refined relaxation on Gili Trawangan’s southern tip.
West coast elegance with Oberoi’s indulgent seclusion and intuitive hospitality.
