Japan

April is a month of celebration in Japan, when streets are awash with glorious pink blossoms, sakura-inspired treats are in shops, hotels and cafés, and Hanami picnics carpet the beautiful parks. The first blossoms usually start in Okinawa during January before reaching Kyoto and Tokyo in April and ending in Hokkaido in May, so iconic sights from Tokyo to Hiroshima are elevated against a backdrop of varying shades of pink for almost half a year. While beaches start to open in Okinawa, a handful of ski resorts are still open.

Vietnam

Vietnam is a year-round destination with weather which varies by region due to the country’s long length, so there’s always somewhere to go. But you’ll want to avoid peak humidity and monsoon seasons. In April, the north tends to be cooler and drier than the central and southern regions – these are hotter but still less humid than the months ahead. South Vietnam is particularly pleasant at this time, with temperatures between 25 to 30°C.
