Days 1-3

Bangkok

Your Thai adventure can only begin in one place, the iconic bustling streets of Bangkok. Bangkok is very much a vibrant city that encompasses modern Thailand but still has its traditional roots, especially when it comes to food. Spend your days wondering around ancient temples and the evenings navigating the night markets and sampling Bangkok's famous street food. Join our optional tour where you'll whizz around the historic heart of Bangkok like you're a local on an electric tuk tuk. Marvel at the famous sights and illuminations around the city, stopping off for classic Thai delicacies along the way. Stay at The Salil Riverside hotel and experience the stylish lifestyle on the banks of the Chao Phraya River in the trendy Charoenkrung district.

Bangkok By Night

Bangkok

In the evening, temperatures drop and there’s less traffic, so it’s an ideal time to discover a different side of Bangkok. On this fascinating tour, you’ll travel by electric tuk tuk from the departure point at Lebua State Tower, a luxury hotel with amazing views from its various bars, to Chinatown for a herb-infused cocktail (or soft drink) and a Thai meal.

Afterwards, you’ll whizz around the city’s historic heart past some of its most famous sights, including the Grand Palace - all lit up to spectacular effect. You’ll stroll through the grounds of a temple to admire the illuminations and explore bustling areas known for their amazing street-food scene. Along the way, you’ll have the chance to try some local sweet treats such as kluai thot - deliciously sticky pieces of deep-fried banana coated in sesame seeds - the perfect way to round off the evening.

• Duration: evening
• Time: 6.30pm to 10.30pm
• Daily departures
• Operates year round
• Private experience

Good to know
The tour is not suitable for children under 10. As for what to wear, you’ll need smart casual clothing if you want to visit the Lebua State Tower before the tour and suitable clothing for visiting temples. It can get surprisingly cool zipping around at night in an open-sided vehicle, so you’ll be grateful for the extra coverage. Transfers to departure point not included.

Days 4-6

Chiang Mai

After a few days in the hectic streets of Bangkok, you'll fly north to experience the slower pace of life in Chiang Mai. Known as Thailand's cultural epicentre, you'll find sacred temples around every corner. Northern Thailand has a distinct food culture inspired by its rich history as well as its geographical location. Don't just sample these delicious dishes, get stuck in with our optional Thai cooking class. On this half day tour, you'll head into the markets to source local fresh produce and then with the help of expert chefs prepare three classic Thai dishes, which you can then enjoy for lunch. If you master these dishes, they'll be great for you to show off at dinner parties when you get home. Stay at Shangri-La Hotel, Chiang Mai for modern luxury in the heart of the city and you'll only be a short walk from the famous city sights.

Thai Cooking Class in Chiang Mai

On this half-day cooking class, you’ll begin with a visit to the local produce market to learn about the key ingredients - from herbs and spices to vegetables and roots - and how to choose the best.

From here, you’ll head into the kitchen where a professional chef will teach you how to prepare three classic Thai dishes, which you’ll enjoy for lunch.

• Duration: half day
• Time: 9am to 3pm
• Daily departures
• Operates year round

This is the perfect place to end your trip with the tropical jungle and the underwater marine world of the Andaman Sea right on your doorstep to explore. Or you can just kick back and enjoy the white sandy beaches and unwind with a massage at the hotel. To finish off your authentic Thai culinary journey, join a local cooking class in the jungle to create southern Thai specialities and indulge in your freshly prepared dishes for lunch.
