Sri Lanka Organised Trips

Elephant Transit Home

If you are particularly interested in elephant rehabilitation then we recommend a visit to the Elephant Transit Home in Udawalawe National Park. Here, orphaned and injured elephants are treated and prepared to be released back into the wild with minimal human contact. During your visit you'll see the elephants but there is no interaction available as they need to be released back into the wild.

Polonnaruwa Day

Polonnaruwa was an ancient city, and the second capital of Sri Lanka after the destruction of Anuradhapura. There are an array of temples ruins as well as the palace and the rest of the city. Whilst here, you can wander freely through the ruins or hop on one of the many tuk-tuks in the area. You can also buy a guide book or hire a guide at the museum. If you wish to enter you must have your shoulders, chest and upper legs covered and must remove your shoes in the temples. As the stone can get very hot at  midday, it is best to go early or a little later, or take a pair of socks to slip on.
