Days 2 to 5

Hatton

Leave the coast behind and journey into Sri Lanka's spectacular Hill Country. Your home for the next three nights is Uga Hallowella, an intimate retreat overlooking Castlereagh Reservoir and the surrounding tea-covered hills. Spend your time exploring the region at your own pace. Visit a nearby tea factory, enjoy traditional afternoon tea, kayak on the reservoir or set out along sections of the famous Pekoe Trail, which winds through tea plantations, forests and local villages.

Days 6 & 7

Ella

Board the Ella Odyssey train for one of Sri Lanka's most iconic rail journeys as you travel from Hatton to Ella through emerald-green tea country. On arrival, check in to Uga Ghiri, a striking boutique retreat with one of the best viewpoints in Ella. Spend your time exploring the area's famous landmarks, including Little Adam's Peak, Nine Arch Bridge and Ravana Falls, or simply relax and soak up the scenery from your hillside perch.

Days 8 to 10

Tangalle

Travelling south towards the coast, stop en route at the Elephant Transit Home in Udawalawe, where rescued elephants are cared for before being released back into the wild. Continue with a safari through Udawalawe National Park, known for its large elephant population and abundant birdlife. Later, arrive at Uga Prava, your clifftop retreat overlooking the Indian Ocean. Spend the next three nights relaxing by the sea, enjoying the peaceful setting and savouring the slower pace of life on Sri Lanka's southern coast.
