All inclusive hotels in Mauritius
Heritage Awali has one of the island’s most generous all inclusive offerings. Think à la carte dining, free-flowing drinks, golf green fees, a free spa treatment, watersports and afternoon tea, all part of the package. Even your minibar and room service are included and- access to sister resorts and a beach club thrown in too. LUX* Grand Gaube rewrites the all-inclusive rulebook. Expect a heady mix of Peruvian-Japanese fusion, toes-in-the-sand Mauritian eats, barista coffee, minibar treats and ice cream stops all included. You’ll get complimentary watersports and spa access, too. Not everything is covered (for instance, the excellent INTI restaurant), but what is included goes well beyond the basics.
Attitude Hotels have every all inclusive corner covered where you can live like a local through their range of hotels with authentic ‘otenik’ experiences. Lagoon Attitude has no fuss, just feel-good island living with values that match the views. Zilwa exudes Mauritius character and the perfect place to unwind as your home from home. Sunrise Attitude is across the road from one of the island’s best beaches and Friday Attitude is small and low key. Base board type is half board but go for the all-in option and get your meals and drinks included. At The Ravenala, dive in and have fun with the watersports and activities on tap and you’ll find Tropical Attitude to be stylishly simple without too many bells and whistles, but hugely welcoming and fabulous all inclusive value. Constance Belle Mare Plage’s optional all-inclusive package makes it easy to go all in. As well as relaxed buffets and special-occasion splurges, sparkling wine and premium spirits included until midnight, your minibar gets refilled each day and golfers get unlimited green fees and buggies on the resort’s two championship courses. And if golf is your thing, there’s unlimited green fees at the Bernhard Langer-designed course of Ile des Cerfs when you stay at Ambre. It’s adults only with some romantic places to dine and whilst there’s a gym, a couple of sports pitches and non-motorised watersports, here it’s all about the downtime.

If you’ve been before you’ll already know just how welcoming Mauritians are to families. Family life is the way of life here so it’s no surprise they provide more than their fair share of places to stay as a family.
Family holidays from babies to teens in Mauritius
If this is a first holiday travelling with your baby, Preskil Island Resort have a baby club and it’s free for the first four hours (you’ll need to book). They have a special baby food menu and have thought of pretty much everything. It’s a fab option if you want some well-earned rest or time with older kids. There’s a family zone here, home to Family Rooms with two bedrooms. If you’re family covers the kids’ age range from 0-17 then LUX* Belle Mare is super choice. You can leave all your baby kit and caboodle at home. Daily kids club activities get kids out around the resort on gardening projects junior yoga as well as the activities and talent shows you might expect. Teens can game in their own Studio hangout too. Heritage Awali is another contender if you’re travelling as a family with babies through to teens – it’s a golf and spa resort which means golf and spa for all the family. Beyond the fabulous kids club there’s loads to do here as a family, from watersports through to wildlife and safari adventures in the Bel Ombre nature reserve. Memories made.
Family holidays exploring Mauritius
Attitude hotels aren’t just great for all inclusive, there are a couple that are particularly great for families too, for all the things there are to do . The Otenik experiences are a great introduction to other cultures for young minds. Break up your time with a few experiences here and there's steet food tours, visiting a local family, bike rides and an app that acts as your travel guide to experience the very best of the island as the locals see it - and be back poolside for some down time. Live the beach island life at Zilwa to the north of the island or the natural life between river, sea and mountains at The Ravenala. There's a ‘modern and mindful’ approach to families at LUX* Grand Baie, although here the organised kids things focus on those aged 3 to 11. Kids club aside, here there are loads of activities for you to do as a family – there’s even a kids spa menu so you can share some pampering time together. You can get parent-child spa pampering time at Shangri-La Le Touessrok too – it’s long been a Mauritius family favourite. Tennis, e-bikes, padel, nature trails and golf feature on the list of things you can do together as a family. Sugar Beach has a choice of rooms to suit your family – it’s full of old-world elegance and is on one of the island’s best beaches.
Mauritian Street Food
Put on your walking shoes as you leisurely taste your way through more than two and a half centuries of history in the island’s capital, Port Louis, on this enlightening walking tour. Immigration has shaped much of Mauritius, so the UNESCO listed Aapravasi Ghat, where almost half a million Indian immigrants arrived to work in the sugar plantations, is a fitting place to begin. As you gently stroll along the waterfront and into the historical centre your experienced guide will help you discover some of the oldest buildings, from the Postal Museum to the Port Louis Theatre all the while filling your imagination with stories of this colourful capital’s past.
As you reach the Central Market with a deeper understanding of the rich diversity of Mauritius, tuck into local delicacies from fritters and roti to dumplings, curries and noodles and wash them down with the local speciality Alouda – an ice-cold milk drink served with agar-agar and psyllium grains. Discover even more culinary treasures as you make your way to Chinatown where generations of Chinese immigrants have traded before exploring the boutique shops and craft markets at the Cauden Waterfront.

Plant a Love Tree & Leave a Legacy
Explore the natural beauty of inland Mauritius, which combines the wonders of the Chamarel Coloured Earths and the majestic Ebony Forest, while contributing to the conservation of this delicate habitat. A fascinating natural phenomenon, the seven distinct colours of sand at Chamarel are a sight to behold as is the nearby waterfall plunging 100 metres down into the Black River Gorge – both perfect spots for some holiday snaps before heading into the reserve with your conservationist guide. Buckle up as you explore the Ebony Forest together on a jeep safari and discover the work being done to create a sanctuary for the island’s rich biodiversity.
Walk along the raised walkways in the forest’s canopy, look out for Fruit Bats hanging in the trees and spot Pic Pic birds gliding above the foliage. At Sublime Point, with breath taking views across Le Morne, put pen to paper and write your own love note to be placed under the native tree you’ll shortly be planting. Not only will you be contributing to the ongoing conservation of the forest, you can return in years to come to see how it’s grown.

Mauritian Wildlife Experience
Experience conservation in action as you explore the Ile Aux Aigrettes Nature Reserve run by the Mauritius Wildlife Foundation on this insightful guided eco tour. Having previously been devastated by tree logging and the introduction of non-native animal and plant species, the foundation’s intense conservation efforts have resulted in the restoration of the forest and species that had long since disappeared from the island. After a short boat trip from the mainland across Mahebourg Bay, your private ranger will guide you along the reserve’s trails introducing you to the distinctive flora and fauna, pointing out rare species such as the Pink Pigeon and Giant Aldabra Tortoise as you go. Before leaving, head to the islands famed Rault Biscuit Factory where cassava biscuits have been produced for over a century and tuck into an authentic Mauritian lunch at a local restaurant.

Dolphin And Whales Encounter
Catching your first glimpse of a dolphin racing beside your boat or spotting a giant humpback whale breaching on the ocean’s surface are moments that will stay with you forever. As you head out along the west coast, your experienced crew will begin briefing you on the types of dolphins and whales you can hope to spot and most importantly how to view these magnificent mammals in a sustainable and responsible manner. It won’t be long before you’re an expert at identifying the two types of dolphins found here – Bottlenose and Spinners – as you watch them play in their natural habitat. Sperm Whales call these waters home all year-round while between July and November giant Humpback Whales travel up from the arctic to breed and give birth. As you continue into deeper waters in search of these graceful creatures, the skippers will be on hand to answer all your questions and ensure you’re prepared for your first encounter.

Discover Black River Gorges
Go beyond the smouldering beaches of Mauritius and you’ll unearth a vivid island interior, where rare birds soar over lime-green landscapes and wild trails lead to epic mountain views. Black River Gorges is the only national park in Mauritius. It’s a must if you’re into nature. Pull on your walking boots for this half-day hike and you’ll get to see some of the island’s most mesmerising sights. Follow your guide through forested trails to discover rushing waterfalls and towering trees, and listen out for local birdlife as you go. If you’re lucky, you might even get a glimpse of the native echo parakeet, Mauritius kestrel or pink pigeon.

Hike Around Le Morne Brabant
Le Morne Brabant is one of Mauritius's most famous and scenic hikes, with spectacular views of the island's southwestern corner. Enjoy expansive views stretching across the island's interior and down to the shoreline and the sea. In the company of an experienced guide, you’ll start the seven-kilometre hike at dawn, ascending the mountain to the halfway point before circling around and descending. At the halfway point you'll get similar views to the summit but in a more peaceful setting.
