Day 1: MUMBAI Board the Deccan Odyssey following a traditional welcome and drink at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus station and settle into your cabin as the train sets off.
Day 2: AURANGABAD This morning the train will arrive in the city of Arungabad and you will have some free time to either enjoy the facilities on the train or visit a spa at a city hotel (treatments extra cost). Following lunch, head to the UNESCO-listed Ellora Caves where 34 grand monasteries and temples have been carved into the rock face. Continue on to Daulatabad Fort which has been occupied in some form since at least 100 BC and then return to the train to refresh before dinner at a restaurant in the city.
Day 3: AURANGABAD After a leisurely breakfast, head out to explore the old city of Aurangabad. The first stop will be Bibi-ka-Maqbara which may look a bit familiar as it is a replica of the iconic Taj Mahal. Later, visit a weaving centre where Himroo fabric is made. This particular fabric features Persian designs woven with silver and gold threads which were much admired in royal courts. Return to the Deccan Odyssey for lunch and spend the afternoon indulging in the onboard recreational activities as the train makes its way to Ramtek for Pench National Park.
Day 4: PENCH The train will arrive in the city of Ramtek this morning and you will disembark and travel to Pench National Park. Here you'll embark on both a morning and afternoon game drive, as you appreciate the local scenery and flora while trying to spot tigers, nilgai and sambar deer as well as a vast array of other mammals and bird life.
Day 5: TADOBA On arrival in Chandrapur station, head to Tadoba Tiger reserve, also known as the Land of Tigers due to its high tiger density. Enjoy an early morning safari and another opportunity to see tigers and other wildlife species such as gaur and wild dogs in the wild. You'll be having your breakfast and lunch at the Tiger Trails Lodge where you can also meet with a naturalist who will explain the conservation work which is underway in the area and give you some insight into the wildlife you've spotted on your game drives.
Day 6: JALGAON Following breakfast, see another World Heritage Site and fine example of rock-cut architecture at the Ajanta Caves. Witness some of the 30 caves which are beautifully ornamented with Buddhist carvings, painting and sculptures before returning to the train for an afternoon at leisure.
Day 7: NASHLIK In the holy city of Nashik wander along the banks of the River Godavari where you may witness several important Hindu rituals being preformed, and visit the local market and try bartering for some bargains. Then drive to the Grover Zampa vinyards for a special tour of one of the finest wine producing facilities in India, in a region which is rapidly gaining popularity as the wine capital of the country. After a lavish lunch paired with some delicious wines, return to the Deccan Odyssey and set off on the last leg of the journey.
Day 8: MUMBAI Following breakfast on board, alight at Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus Railway Station.

This is a fixed itinerary rail journey on the luxurious Deccan Odyssey. All meals are included as well as soft beverages and the service of an English-speaking local guide for the off train excursions and game drives. Each of the elegant and air-conditioned Deluxe Cabins and Presidential Suites feature a flat-screen TV, DVD player and en suite bathroom.
