Great stay, fantastic property, amazing staff
We stayed at Lemala Nanyukie for three nights in November 2020. Based on reading previous reviews, our expectations were high - yet, they were exceeded in every aspect! The camp: The camp is incredible. It manages to be have all the amenities one might ever need (and more!), while retaining a very authentic bush feel: it is modern and tasteful, yet has the rustic feel of a classic tented camp. The room is even better than the pictures suggest. Similarly, the lounge area is beautiful, as is the restaurant. The food also deserves a note of mention - every single meal we had at the restaurant was delicious. Even more impressive, however, were the bush breakfasts and lunches - there was also a vast choice, so that we never felt we missed out by having a meal on the go. Finally, every COVID precaution was perfectly followed, and we felt very safe during our stay. The location: Nanyukie is perfectly located in a secluded yet wildlife rich area, and exactly halfway between the famous, wildlife rich Seronera area, and the predator reach eastern plains. Both areas are easily accessible, meaning that a visitor to Nanyukie gets easy access to both the main wildlife-viewing areas of central Serengeti. There is also a plethora of wildlife near camp, due to this being located close to permament water - meaning that, no matter if the migration is there or not, there will be wildlife just outside camp. The staff: Like everything else, the staff exceeded my expectations. The managers, Rebecca and Andrea, were friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable. I have yet to meet a manager as knowledgeable on wildlife as Andrea! And coming back from a drive to Rebecca's smile and warm conversation was the perfect way to end the day. They were both always a pleasure to have around, and made sure our stay was faultless. Our guide, Simon, was similarly extremely knowledgeable and experienced. He had a knack of ensuring we were always the only (or one of few) cars at sightings, using his intimate knowledge of the area to always find sightings in a natural, organic way. We saw everything we hoped for and more, through what always felt like very exclusive sightings. Furthermore, once we informed Simon that we would ideally like to stay out on game drives as long as possible, he made sure that we didn't miss a single minute of wildlife viewing time, and ensured that we had fantastic bush breakfasts and lunches every time. Having the ability to tailor the schedule to our wishes was great, and something we really appreciated. Overall, Simon was truly amazing, and clearly had an intimate knowledge and undertanding of the area - the fact that Simon showed us everything we hoped for, in the rainy season, while managing to not get us under a single rain shower, perfectly exemplifies this. Finally, all the support staff was amazing - our room was always perfect, the camp was spotless, and the food was exquisite. To sum it all up - hands down the best safari experience I've ever had, and could not recommend it enough! Thank you again to everyone at Nanyukie, and we hope to see you again soon!
Amazing Family Stay at Lemala Nanyukie
On our 10 day trip of Tanzania, Nanyukie was by far our favourite lodge and Hassan was the best guide! Views are amazing and the location is superb and we saw phenomenal wildlife. Andres and Rebecca really run a tight ship and were super hosts. Rebecca took a great interest in the kids at the lodge and it was by far the only lodge that offered proper kid’s activities so Travis had a great time practising bow and arrow with the askari and went on a nature walk around the property and of course, the pools were the best! The food was phenomenal and our dietary needs (vegan) were so well catered for, it was also the only property that had a proper kid’s menu! We highly recommend staying at Nanyukie when visiting the Serengeti!
Honeymoon at Lemala Nanyukie
On november 2020 we stayed two nights at Lemala Nanyukie as part of our honeymoon in Tanzania. This lodge is incredibly amazing and has stunning views of Serengeti. Every room is full equiped and beautifully designed with attention to every detail. Lemala is very integrated with nature and sleeping in this lodge is a unique experience. You can see and hear the animals everywhere. The staff team working there are also very friendly and nice and made us had an unforgetable stay!
Luxurious camp with fantastic staff
We loved our 3 night stay at Lemala Nanyukie! All of the decor in main areas as well as the tents is stunning and comfortable. This was the most spacious accommodation of our 8 night safari and it was nice to have a little more room to relax and unwind. Although it was too cool for us to use the private plunge pool, I'm sure in the warmer months it is a wonderful addition. The staff were all warm, engaging, helpful, and entertaining. I particularly enjoyed it when they sang and danced to help celebrate my birthday. Even though we were not able to enjoy dining atop a nearby kopje due to the rain, the camp manager Andreas took us up to view the spectacular sunset. You have to be escorted at all times in this camp due to its proximity to multiple kopjes and we were able to see several animals just walking back to our tent including a genet cat and hyena. We even viewed our first leopard one night right from the main bar area! The food was wonderful and they were more than willing to accommodate my dietary preferences. Nanyukie is located a bit away from the central Serengeti but we found that we preferred a low traffic area and felt the additional driving was totally worth it. We were very impressed with the Lemala product and would love to return as well as visit other Lemala camps in the future.
The best safari lodge in the Serengeti - don't look anywhere else!
I honestly don't know where to start in terms of sharing all the amazing parts of Lemala Nanyukie. We stayed 4 nights there and we could stay forever. We've done safari in other locations before and I can honestly say after staying at Lemala I'll never be staying anywhere else. They've given us life-long family memories which we'll cherish forever and I can't thank the Nanyukie and Lemala team enough. Our guide Fredy, and the managers Rebecca and Andrea gave us the best experience we could have hoped for. From the moment you walk in and look around you its one "wow" after another - from the beautiful setting in the kopje rock formation, the stunning decoration, the views. We went on safari with our 2 young children (age 3 and 6) so finding a place which was not only accommodating but also set up and flexible enough to provide a fantastic safari with kids was very important. The whole team at Nanyukie embraced our kids and made all of us feel at home. The food is fantastic - over 5 days we never had the same meal and the dishes were the highest quality. The accommodation is truly out of this world. Extremely spacious, beautifully decorated and with all the mod cons you would expect. The highlight of course is the sunken deck and plunge pool - its a shame the safari is so good that we didn't spend as much time as we would have liked out there. The common areas such as the bar, terrace/lounge, campfire are all equally stunning. What I love about Nanyukie (and Lemala lodges in general) is their flexible approach. We had complete flexibility to designing our own schedule based on what we wanted/felt each day . When we've done safari previously the game drives were at specific times each day so to have full flexibility to have what suits you best makes a huge difference. They really do everything in their power to make it the holiday YOU want, and tailor your experience completely. We'd requested in advance a desire to do a walking tour, and the lodge manager Andrea went out of his way to make it happen. We did an afternoon walk followed by sundowners and it was one of the highlights of our whole trip. Andrea shared so many facts which blew my mind, and we were so lucky to come across a leopard on it's hunt (safely of course!). Truly a moment none of us will ever forget our whole lives - Andrea himself had never even seen this in 8 years of walking tours in the Serengeti. I can't recommend highly enough to try and arrange this either before or during your stay and take advantage of Andrea's knowledge. It's truly such a unique experience to get much closer to the Serengeti. I could keep going on and on about how wonderful this place is! 5 out of 5 doesn't do this place and its team enough justice.
