Great stay, fantastic property, amazing staff
We stayed at Lemala Nanyukie for three nights in November 2020. Based on reading previous reviews, our expectations were high - yet, they were exceeded in every aspect!
The camp: The camp is incredible. It manages to be have all the amenities one might ever need (and more!), while retaining a very authentic bush feel: it is modern and tasteful, yet has the rustic feel of a classic tented camp. The room is even better than the pictures suggest. Similarly, the lounge area is beautiful, as is the restaurant. The food also deserves a note of mention - every single meal we had at the restaurant was delicious. Even more impressive, however, were the bush breakfasts and lunches - there was also a vast choice, so that we never felt we missed out by having a meal on the go. Finally, every COVID precaution was perfectly followed, and we felt very safe during our stay.
The location: Nanyukie is perfectly located in a secluded yet wildlife rich area, and exactly halfway between the famous, wildlife rich Seronera area, and the predator reach eastern plains. Both areas are easily accessible, meaning that a visitor to Nanyukie gets easy access to both the main wildlife-viewing areas of central Serengeti. There is also a plethora of wildlife near camp, due to this being located close to permament water - meaning that, no matter if the migration is there or not, there will be wildlife just outside camp.
The staff: Like everything else, the staff exceeded my expectations. The managers, Rebecca and Andrea, were friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable. I have yet to meet a manager as knowledgeable on wildlife as Andrea! And coming back from a drive to Rebecca's smile and warm conversation was the perfect way to end the day. They were both always a pleasure to have around, and made sure our stay was faultless. Our guide, Simon, was similarly extremely knowledgeable and experienced. He had a knack of ensuring we were always the only (or one of few) cars at sightings, using his intimate knowledge of the area to always find sightings in a natural, organic way. We saw everything we hoped for and more, through what always felt like very exclusive sightings. Furthermore, once we informed Simon that we would ideally like to stay out on game drives as long as possible, he made sure that we didn't miss a single minute of wildlife viewing time, and ensured that we had fantastic bush breakfasts and lunches every time. Having the ability to tailor the schedule to our wishes was great, and something we really appreciated. Overall, Simon was truly amazing, and clearly had an intimate knowledge and undertanding of the area - the fact that Simon showed us everything we hoped for, in the rainy season, while managing to not get us under a single rain shower, perfectly exemplifies this. Finally, all the support staff was amazing - our room was always perfect, the camp was spotless, and the food was exquisite.
To sum it all up - hands down the best safari experience I've ever had, and could not recommend it enough! Thank you again to everyone at Nanyukie, and we hope to see you again soon!
