Great honeymoon resort
My new wife and I stayed at Maradiva for 9 nights and had a wonderful time. We had planned to do plenty of activities in Mauritius but the weather, resort and facilities were so nice that we ended up spending the whole trip in Maradiva. The beach is spectacular with paradise views and wonderful food and drink. The service is top class with Olivier, Wessley and the team providing personal, kind and attentive treatment throughout our stay. The pool villas are spacious and impeccably clean - with large comfy beds and abundant outdoor space. The food was excellent with a wide-ranging buffet for breakfast and a la Carte evening menu (the steak was particularly good). The Cilantro Indian restaurant provides a top rate curry in a classy setting with excellent service and the teppanyaki restaurant next door is great fun (it’s a joy to watch the exceptional skill set of the chef). There are lots of other excellent facilities including water sports and boat trips. The spa is highly recommended with a wide range of treatments in a luxurious modern and relaxing setting. The resort offered plenty of little extras and surprises to really make our honeymoon feel special (we particularly enjoyed beachfront dinner in the Raj tents) and there was regular live entertainment in the bar and restaurant. Overall a wonderful stay - highly recommended!
Wedding and Honeymoon
We had selected Mauritius as you can get married legally here and it is recognised In the UK. We had looked at many hotels and selected the Maradiva because of the reviews, the private villas and the privacy. We booked with Mauritius holidays direct - who were very good. We landed early and the transfer from the airport was just over and hour due to traffic. As we arrived at just after 9am we expected to have to wait for our room, but to our surprise the room was ready. Following a welcome drink, Axelle from reception took us on a tour of the resort in one of the golf buggies, showing us the main pool, bars and restaurants. By the time we got the villa our bags were waiting for us. We had booked a beach front villa and weren’t disappointed with villa 315. The beach is a few steps away from the patio, and you can see and hear the waves. What makes this place special - The staff - everyone is very friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble. Special mention to - Kenny (concierge, wedding planner, and one of our witnesses!) he did an outstanding job. Asha from the Spa (wedding hair and makeup). Axelle from reception (tour on first day and helping sort out wedding papers) Wessley and his team (beach bar) kept us in drinks! Kevish from Coast to Coast for the cocktails on the day of our wedding! Vijay and Navin from the in villa dining team (wedding dinner on the jetty and breakfast in the raj tent) The grounds, stunning and kept that way by the team of gardeners The venue for a wedding (if you are getting married select the jetty as it is stunning) The beach - the bay is surrounded by a reef therefore the waves break further our, making the sea shore very tranquil. Boat trips - if you get a chance take a trip on a speedboat from the boathouse we were lucky enough to see dolphins, whales and the stunning Crystal Rock. The spa - as part of our wedding package we had a complimentary couples massage and petal bath Wedding gifts in our room after the wedding - very special. breakfast - breakfast buffet in coast to coast has something for everyone, try and get a table inside though as the birds like to help themselves. Dinner options - coast to coast is open every evening and is a la carte, nice standard menu, or chefs selection. Mauritius night every Sunday is really good. We tried the Indian (cilantro) which was good but didn’t try the Japanese as we don’t like sushi. In Villa Dining also has a good choice if you don’t fancy going to one of the restaurants. All of the restaurants have a dress code for dinner - long trousers and shoes for men. If I was being picky, the wooden floor of the villa squeaks a little.... The prices seem expensive, a beer (Phoenix and Blue Marlin are the local beers) are 220 rupees (£4.30) in the hotel, but you would pay more in a pub in London! Wine is expensive 480 rupees for a glass almost £10.00, and a bottle is about £60.00 but it is all imported and very good... We walked a couple of times along the beach to Flic en Flac, it’s about 2.5 miles a nice walk, but recommend a taxi back which is 200-250 rupees. There is a Jumbo supermarket (pack of 6 beers similar price as one in the hotel) and 2 ATM’s to get cash out.
Exquisite hotel and great level of service
Stayed between 1 Nov to 3 Nov 2019 with my family. It's been an amazing experience. The hotel and its compound is gorgeous. The level of service from the gatekeeper up to the management team has been amazing. Special mention to Nitish at the main restaurant. Very customer oriented and great personality. Looking forward to a renewed visit in 2020
The hotel is very nice and very well located, next to the beach. All villas are spacious and have a swimming pool, the service is great, beaches are lovely and clean. We were located in the presidential villa with a direct access to the beach. Pretty big swimming pool with heating water. The food is very good. breakfast, lunch and dinner were perfect. Every day we received fresh fruits, all kind of desserts, ..... Japanese restaurant is one of the best we have eaten, don't miss it. The is also an indian restaurant, but unfortunately we had no time to try. We have taken a hotel car, nice BMW X5 with a lovely driver Ritish, who showed us the whole island, south, north and east. We spent with Ritish 3 days. He knows everything about Mauritius :) all staff and management are great and very helpful. When we arrived, early in the morning, our villa was ready for us, Also when we were leaving, the manager was very glad to give us a possibility to stay as long as we wanted. we left our villa at 7pm. It was very well appreciated by us. Tks again to all "maradivians" for a superb stay. Hope to come back soon :)
This one is pure luxury. Villas with your own plunge pool. Huge bathrooms with Hermes toiletries. And a beautiful beach which doesn't feel crowded. The three restaurants are all good, the best being the Tepeneyaki one. But the hallmark of this property has to be the service. We stayed for 5 days and felt pampered everyday. Every body has a smile and you feel the positivity around the place. We did try out the tennis court and the gym and both were good. They have a boat house and a kids club which unfortunately we couldn't visit because of lack of time. I am not good at remembering names so I won't take individual names, but I would like to thank everyone of the wonderful staff of this hotel for making our stay truly memorable. This is one resort that I would recommend any time. Go ahead and book it, you won't regret it.
