Family trip to the Luxe
Feeling very heartbroken to hear about the fire and I am sure there will be lots of guests who have returned feeling the same. We were at the hotel between 22 June to 1 July. My heart goes out to the whole LBM family and all those affected. I am sure this much loved hotel will come back even stronger and better and the lovely staff can have their jobs back. I wanted to leave a review to say this is one of the best resorts I have ever stayed at. Yes it is very beautiful and luxurious but for us the staff made it so memorable. The warmth and welcome we received from the staff will always stay with us and nothing was too much trouble for them. They made sure we were well looked after including our little 3 year old girl. It felt like another home for us. I want to say a special thanks to Kishan, William and Shaad in Duck Laundry who welcomed us on numerous occasions because we loved the food so much. Also Neha, Tinusha and Jeal Paul for being so lovely to us in the Mixe. For us the standout was Ashveena in the Mixe who made us feel so welcome each time we came for breakfast or dinner. She made sure my little girl had all the food she liked and would go out of her way without even asking. If I could remember all the names I would list them all because they were honestly all so lovely and amazing. This is why the Luxe Belle Mare needs to be rebuilt soon as it has touched so many of us. Sending lots of love and light to the LBM family right now.❤
Best experience in the world! Best hotel!
My husband and I spent our honeymoon at LUX* Belle Mare in June 2022. Our stay was simply fabulous! For a start, the hotel looks amazing, stylish, spotless clean, and counts with amazing facilities. Because it was our honeymoon, the hotel provided us with very cool things and activities, dinners and such a lux treatment we'll never forget. They are so attentive, they don't miss even the smallest detail. I've never been in a place that works so well! Nothing fails! The resort is divine (pool area and bars) but the beach is one of the best in all of Mauritius. Big and wide, full of sun beds. Towels are provided, and you have staff helping you at all times. All the restaurantes are amazing. Each day they serve different types of food from all over the world, plus they have two great restaurants, even one with a Michelin Star! Everything from the rooms, to the spa, breakfast service, cocktails... The whole hotel is outstanding, but I have to say the best feature of this hotel is the vibe and the staff. A million thanks to Aniell, the concierge, and everyone who works here. You are the driving force of this place. We can't wait to go back and enjoy more of Mauritius and its people. What a spectacular place! Absolutely unbelievable!!
Wonderful hotel and staff
I have been home one week and hadn’t found time to write my review for this wonderful place when I saw the awful news about the hotel fire. I am so sorry for all affected. We had a wonderful two weeks in one of the stunning villas. Everything about it was perfect, the beach is stunning, the facilities were great but the staff made our holiday incredible so I hope they are OK. Thank you Pravind, Kishan and Girish for all your hard work. We wish you well.
A 5 star experience
Staying at this resort was a great experience. Everything from the service to the rooms to the resort itself was amazing. The resort is very beautiful, especially because of the coconut trees around the whole area and also the amazing lagoon in Belle Mare. It also has a unique focus on sustainability, with roofs made out of thatch and a ban on single use plastics, even within the rooms. Location wise, the resort is good. There is a big supermarket (Super U) in a nearby city, as well as some local shops around the area. The public beach is only a few minutes away, but the hotel also offers a private beach with is extremely well maintained and clean. If you plan to visit some attractions, then you will have to travel around (most of the main attractions are either in the south west area or the north.) This travel will take around 45 minutes-1.5hours each way, depending on where you go. If you plan to go only occasionally, then you can manage with the hotel taxi service (which is also very good), but if you want a short, optimised vacation, then you should probably look for a hotel in those areas. If you do plan to stay in your resort, however, then this is one of the best you’ll find. It has a lot of facilities, including a HUGE swimming pool, a bocce ball area, sun beds and a beach house that offers a variety of water sports. Keep in mind that for the water sports, the East coast may be very windy during July-August, so you’ll need to hope you get good weather. During the rest of the year, though, it’s a great place for water sports. There’s options like kayaking, water skiing, windsurfing, pedals boats and snorkelling trips, all included as a part of your room charge! It’s also one of the best resorts for families, with a kids and teens club, as well as a kids area in the pool. There’s also a lot of interesting activities like yoga, beach soccer and DJ nights to keep you occupied throughout the day. Meal options are quite good too. There are 5 restaurants in total, with a great variety of food options, including vegan, and service is good. We had a buffet at the Mixe and absolutely loved it. If you haven’t paid for the meals along with your room, then it might be a bit costly, but the quality of food is very good. Try to get the half board option or even the all inclusive for the best deal. The room keeps up the high standards of the hotel. It has a very light, neat design, and is quite spacious (60m2) along with a balcony/garden outside. The room also comes with sea view/beachfront options as well. There are some villas too, if you want your room to be extra spacious. There’s a separate area for having tea in the morning, a small closet room (which reduces clutter in the rest of your room) and a pretty big bathroom. Personally, the best part of the hotel was the service by the staff. They were all very friendly to us throughout our stay. The room service was always very timely and good. The boat house staff always helped us with the activities. The restaurant staff was accommodating and helped us find vegetarian options, or even customised a dish to make it vegetarian. The staff are very helpful, understanding and professional at all times, and they focus on each guest’s individual needs, which is what makes this resort a great place to stay. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone planning to visit Mauritius, because it is truly 5 star in every possible way. Sadly, we heard that it has been hit by a fire recently, and a major part of it has burned down. I sincerely hope that this is not the end of this hotel, and just like the Grand Mauritian did, it will come back even better than before. Till then, hope all the lovely staff find jobs, and looking forward to visiting this place again whenever possible!
Lux* Belle Mere has been an amazing experience. My husband booked Lux for our honeymoon and it’s been the best decision he has made! Staff was very accommodating from the moment we arrived and has literally met our needs. We would like to say a big thank you to everyone at Lux* Belle Mere, and a very special shout out to the following staff: Allen, Jennifer, Bilall, Ravi, Melina, Sanjay, Naaz, Gopee, Khalid, Swift, Anielle & Hema. These specific staff members had made our honeymoon a memorable experience and had treated us nothing less like family! We will definitely be back again but this time with our respective families. Thank you once again to Lux* Belle Mere and the people of Mauritius!! ❤️
