Restaurants & bars

Open for both breakfast and dinner, A Mano is the resort's main buffet restaurant that offers international and local cuisine in a serene beachside setting. Looking out towards Jehunuhura, an exclusive sister island to Kanuhura, Veli offers Asian-fusion cuisine, a modern interpretation of traditional Asian dishes. There's also a traditional Indian oven here, which offers amazing tandoori cuisine. For hearty Italian flavours, Bottega serves a blend of original and authentic dishes, taken from selected regions across Italy. You'll enjoy sumptuous cuisine served in true Italian style; there's even a pizzaiolo kitchen and wine cellar, which houses an impressive collection of premium vintages. Private lunch or dinner bookings can be enjoyed at the Chef's Herb Garden. On a communal table amid a beautiful vegetable garden, you'll enjoy an exquisite set menu of fresh and aromatic dishes, which you can personalise with the chef prior to the meal. If you're keen to learn more, there's also a series of interactive culinary demonstrations available to see here too! One of the most idyllic dining experiences that the resort has to offer is Drift, the island's sumptuous beachside grill restaurant that inhabits an exceptionally secluded setting on the sands of Jehunuhura. If you're craving something lighter, the island's Deli is great for coffees, sandwiches and sweet treats – and before a day of exploration, you can also arrange picnic baskets here on request too.

For drinks, the Cowry Club is the resort's contemporary lounge and pool bar, which boasts an exceptionally large selection of local and classic cocktails, each skillfully prepared by the island's mixologist. Alternatively, head to the tranquil beach lounge Iru, where you can relax with a drink at the same time as watching an incredible Maldivian sunset.

For Children

What’s nearby? The resort has two uninhabited sister islands – Jehunuhura and Masleggihura – which are exclusive to Kanuhura. You can set out to explore them on a catamaran, and Jehunuhura is home to the hotel’s island grill restaurant, Drift. If you want to explore underwater, we’d recommend taking a boat over to the Maa Giri and Kanuhura Corner reefs. Both teem with turtles, rays and grey reef sharks.

Tried and tested We love the pirate cruise – kids can make and decorate their own pirate costume then sail out to one of Kanuhura’s deserted islands to dig for treasure. The resort runs special children’s programmes over Easter and Christmas.

The sleeping arrangements Villas at Kanuhura are beachside or overwater, and set on either the sunrise or sunset side of the island. For families, we love the Grand Beach Villas. These have two bedrooms – a master and a twin – plus a big living room to spread out in, and when you book these you get extra benefits like a complimentary seaplane transfer for children under 12. The Retreat Family Beach Pool Villas are even bigger, with three king-sized bedrooms and the bonus of a private pool.
