Diamonds Athuruga

Chic, contemporary, and all-inclusive

With classic Maldivian beaches and beautiful water villas, Athuruga is authentic yet cosmopolitan.

Light and fresh, Diamonds Athuruga has a modern aesthetic and a beachy feel. It’s a stylish, all-inclusive resort in an enviable spot in the South Ari Atoll, where a house reef hosts colourful sea life, including angelfish and clownfish. It’s also one of the best places in the Maldives to spot manta rays, whale sharks, and turtles.

Why we love Diamonds Athuruga

  • The snorkelling is some of the best in the Maldives

  • A resident marine biologist holds biology evenings to explain the sea life in the Maldivian reefs

  • An on-site tailor can create bespoke clothes in colourful local fabrics

  • The resort will arrange special lobster dinners on the beach

Maakeyn is the main restaurant, and your meals here are included on the All Inclusive board basis. Don’t miss dining at Thari or Thila – although these are not included, they offer a different style of dining.

Maakeyn
With a prime position next to the beach, Maakeyn is the resort’s main restaurant. Serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner buffet-style, there’s a different theme every night.

Thari
Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, serving an a la carte menu of European and Asian dishes.

Thila
The resort’s Japanese Teppanyaki restaurant is set in a thatched hut near the beach, with live cooking on a Teppanyaki grill. Open for lunch and dinner.

Farivalhu Maldivian Dining Experience
This private under-the-stars-and-palms evening is the perfect way to celebrate a special occassion. There's a focus on local produce and flavours and you are also invited to wear a traditional Maldivian sarong.

Kakuni Seafood Dining Experience
Moon and starlit seafood dinners served on the beach, on your water villa terrace or in front of your beach bungalow.

Boli Beach Bar
Serving light meals and snacks throughout the day.

Maakeyn serves an ever-changing menu with the opportunity to try a diverse menu of international cuisine.

While there isn’t a gym, there’s a choice of activities, including beach volleyball, water gymnastics, and games such as darts, billiards, and table football.

The resort’s dive centre runs courses for beginners and experienced divers. The resort is in a part of the Maldives that’s home to a large manta ray population in a season that starts in December to the end of April.

Superb snorkelling is accessible from the beach and boat jetty. It’s worth booking one of the snorkelling trips for the chance to spot manta rays or whale sharks. It takes a little longer to reach the best dive sites, but it’s recommended for the opportunity to spy larger species.

Other water sports include windsurfing, canoeing, and deep-sea fishing.

The resort hosts a researcher from the University of Milano-Bicocca who collects data to understand the ecological dynamics of the organisms of the coral reef.

Minimum age 8 in Water Villas.

Minimum stay: 7 nights 26 Dec-06 Jan.
