Another excellent holiday on our favourite Maldives island
Another excellent holiday on our favourite Maldives island. Service is great, the staff are friendly and helpful, the food and drinks are marvellous, and the dive centre and the diving are fantastic – lots of mantas and sharks. But when we holidayed in January 2020, Thudufushi was suffering from severe beach erosion - nearly half of the Beach Villas had no beach. Fortunately our beach villa had sufficient. There was a block-booked club outing of 70 Italians, who all knew each other, and were even louder than usual in the dining room over dinner. It would be great if the Beach Bungalows had a full renovation to more modern styles. Unseasonably windy weather during our stay - obviously not Planhotel's fault, but nevertheless it took the shine off our stay. For full details and lots of photos of the beach and diving, see our web site at dunbankin dot com slash maldives2020.

Best island holiday ever. Peaceful, laid back and plain luxury. Choose beach villa 10 to 26 to be close to the water. Excellent fresh food, not you typical buffet you get served with all inclusive. Prompt excellent service from all staff. Pristine snorkeling, warm sea temperatures 28°C. Child friendly. Casual dress with no shoes even at dinner. Languages most spoken is Italian and English.
Dream Vacation in Paradise
Thudufushi is a small island in the southern Ari Atoll. With a diameter of about 150 meters it can be circumnavigated easily in 10 minutes. The island is a dream in white and turquoise, you always feel like you are in a "Raffaello" advertisement. The island combines luxury with a relaxed and enjoyable ambiance. Ideal to relax and enjoy. The all-inclusive concept is great, which allows for a carefree holiday. We recommend the island for couples who like combining luxury with a genuine beach feeling. The island is reached from Male in about 25 minutes by seaplane. The flight itself is a great experience over all the small islands. Thudufushi is characterized by a beautiful growth of palm trees, a well-kept white sandy beach and turquoise-blue water. Most remarkable, however, are the snow-white water villas, which look like diamonds in the sea due to their construction; an architectural masterpiece. The beach is very wide on the north and west side (up to 100m) and has widened compared to the past. This sand is unfortunately missing on the south-east side, which suffers from strong erosion. The beach is constantly cleaned every day, coral fragments and washed up rubbish are immediately cleaned away. The bay on the west side invites you to swim, the different reefs and coral gardens for snorkeling (read below). All in all is the island very well maintained. We lived in a water villa, which is simply a dream. The water villas are white throughout and offer a lot of space and a very large sun deck with direct access to the water and the different reefs. The bathroom and shower have direct access to the outside, which allows showering with a clear view of the blue lagoon. Beds are comfortable and the room offers all the desired amenities. On the terrace there is a table and a sofa next to a wide lounger. The service is very attentive and cordial from the first moment. Not exaggerated or artificial, simply friendly and efficient. Wishes are fulfilled immediately. The cuisine is excellent and has improved on a high level compared to the past. Breakfast is served (on request) on the private patio. Lunch in the Overwater-Restaurant is simply a dream. The view of the island and the turquoise blue water is incredible. A 4-course menu is served. For each course you can choose from about 10 options. In addition a daily changing menu. The quality of food is excellent, lots of fish, curries and also numerous Italian specialties. For dinner, basically the same, but with a different menu. We also visited the main restaurant (buffet) on the island on two different evenings. Very excellent. The buffet reduced the choice a little but gained a lot of quality. Fresh fish and meat from the grill, pasta and pizza, freshly cooked meals, various curries, salads and antipasti, ... everything your heart desires. Not to forget the snacks and drinks in between. Due to the all-inclusive concept these are included. In several bars you can get excellent drinks, good Italian coffee and various snacks. We are enthusiastic snorkelers, so the house reef is very important for us. Basically Thudufushi offers very nice snorkeling possibilities. It is not characterized by ONE great reef, but by the fact that it is possible to snorkel at very different places in different surroundings ( cliff, coral gardens of different depths). The reef is still very rich in fish. During our week we have seen many sharks, turtles, moray eels and twice a manta ray close up. The corals are unfortunately - like in all of the Maldives - in a very sad state. Above all the coral gardens have suffered very much 3 years after the coral bleaching. Global warming very visible. Despite everything snorkeling was fun. All in all we can truly recommend Thudufushi, a paradise!
The service was amazing. The over water villa was such a treat, snorkelling 🤿 stuff ready for us on the decking. Perfect food and cocktails. Variety of trips to do and the dive team were great. Enjoyed every moment of our trip.
