With luxurious villas and the chance to dine beneath the waves, this is a spectacular twin-island retreat.

The twin islands that make up this beautiful, and recently revamped, resort are quite distinct. A 500-metre timber footbridge connects the main hub of Rangali-Finolhu and the smaller Rangali Island.

The atmosphere on Rangali-Finolhu is cool and lively; this is the heart of the resort where you will find the majority of the main facilities. Almost every type of cuisine is covered across the resort; on Rangali-Finolhu, the dining venues include the Atoll Market, Ufaa by Jereme Leung and the Cheese & Wine Bar where you can try some of the world's best cheeses selected by the Maître de Fromage.

Over on Rangali, it's all about that typical away-from-it-all vibe that the Maldives is so famous for. The island is largely adults only (the majority of villas are for guests over 16) and there are low-key facilities such as yoga and meditation pavilions and a tranquil over-water spa. There's also an exclusive, candlelit Japanese live cooking venue on the beach, a cinema under the stars and a chic adults-only ‘quiet zone’ with infinity pool and tented lounge bar.

Accommodation is split over the two islands: on Rangali-Finolhu there are spacious Beach Villas and Deluxe Beach Villas with private plunge pool while Rangali Island is home to a range of water villas, the majority of which are for guests of 16 years or above. Conrad Maldives Rangali is home to the world's first undersea residence – the Muraka. This incredible residence is set both above and below the surface of the sea. It features two bedrooms and an outdoor deck on the upper floor and an underwater master bedroom with a domed acrylic roof.
