Lovely Xmas holiday.
We spent my birthday over Xmas at this hotel. We had booked a sea view room however this room overlooked the local clinic, so we paid extra for a pool view room which was great. The experience here was extremely good. All staff throughout our stay were excellent and I mean all staff, attentive, courteous and helpful. The food was good especially the buffet evenings, with lots of choice and good quality. The rooms were cleaned daily and towels and toiletries replaced daily. They also provide water each day. The pools are heated the adult salt water pool is very warm and inviting. Monday to Friday outdoor Tai chi, water aerobics and yoga classes are available to all. The only disappointment is the evening entertainment, it is a bit low key, nothing lively to get people up dancing. That was the only disappointment, everything else is excellent..
Great time of year to visit
Staying the week before Christmas, the hotel was fairly quiet. The guests were mainly older German couples, only about 5 children in the hotel. This worked out really well as there were no queues in the restaurant, lots of sunbeds and our 5 year old had the kids pool to himself and usually only him and 2 others at kids club. The hotels is very retro 70s, but very well maintained. Very clean and looked after. Kids Club was great for our boy. It’s a quiet club with mainly craft type activities - making, drawing, painting etc. There is an outside play area with sand for digging. It’s managed by Juliet a nice German lady who speaks great English. It’s not the usual kids club, you sign in once and not again and the gate is always open (although you sign to say whether they can leave the club alone or not). You can drop in and leave whenever which our boy liked. He seemed to feel better knowing he could pop out (with permission) and see us if he wanted to and then go back. Although the club doesn’t have the usual high security, the hotel seems very safe with only 1 entrance and exit through the main reception. Food I’m not sure if this is the case all year round, but on half board there is a full buffet (which they call barbecue) 3 nights a week. Great selection, high quality, steak, chicken, pork chops, lots of fish all cooked to order. The other nights is table service with a small menu. 3 courses, 2/3 choices for each course, plus a cheese and dessert buffet. This food was also great quality, but a little fussy and most nights there was duck, veal, deer, rabbit etc. You can check the menu in the morning and if it’s not to your taste you can switch for lunch at the pool bar and go out for dinner. Really flexible! Pool bar food was great too. Service - the staff are all friendly and helpful. Not sure how much is down to tipping though! Pools - tiny really warm toddler pool, medium kids pool with a small slide (about 1.3m deepest) and a large pool. There is a quiet area and pool for over 14’s and a large jacuzzi. The pool staff are quick to spot you and bring cushions and towels for your sunbeds! The gym is small and outdoors (covered) and has enough for most people. The sauna is naked (optional) and only open in the early evening. The beach is a few minutes walk and really large. Lots of nice restaurants and cafes nearby, great to watch the sunset. There is a high end shopping area and plenty of smallish supermarkets. I would recommend upgrading to a sea view on a higher floor - hearing the sea all night was lovely and you get a nice sunrise. The air con was non existent- not sure if they turn it off at this time of year? If this was summer it would be unbearable... Also there doesn’t seem to be any sign of recycling and there’s a lot of plastic bottles, maybe a few recycling bins here and there could be added? They have some gorgeous pairs of love birds in the garden - so pretty! All in all I would definitely recommend and might return. The downsides (quiet, not many children) also are the upsides! This time of year the weather was perfect (20c almost all day) and it’s so good to be away from the UK rain!!!
Wow in so many ways
Everything about this wonderful place is to be commended. Our room on the 6th floor with sea view was inviting, spotless and cozy. Each morning the room was cleaned whilst we ate breakfast on the terrace and each evening 2 complimentary bottles of water and chocolates were delivered to the room as part of the turndown service. We sampled all 3 evening dining options each were superb and my favourite was Esencia restaurant. It’s a more intimate dining option and fine dining at its best without being stuffy. The outdoor table had a heater overhead so it never got chilly. I would highly recommend a visit to it. Of the 3 pool options I loved the silent (no mobiles of loud talking) pool and the way your sunbed was made up with cushions and towels for you by the pool attendant. Plus cold drinks could be ordered and delivered to you. There was a variety of professional evening entertainment both at dinner on the terrace and in the bar. I honestly could not find fault with this great place, every staff member wants the customer to be happy, my husband and I will be back.
Attention to detail
We have just returned from a 2 week stay at the seaside palm beach in maspolomas and had a great stay.We were on the third floor, and although the bathroom was small ,it was adequate and the food and attention to detail of the the staff certainly made up for this. Our room had a problem with the air conditioner and within an hour the problem had been fixed. However that evening at our dinner table the hotel manager came up to us and asked with our names wether we were happy with the repair,it is this attention to detail which is very impressive. The food is excellent, most certainly one of the best of holiday hotels in which we have stayed. With 3 buffet meals and 4 five course menu meals per week the choice is extensive, and most people we talked to had returned and returned, always a good sign.We shall certainly be returning
It's all about detail
We are on day 5 of our week's stay in the hotel and already planning whrn we can return. This is not a hotel for groups of young singles, party goers or families with lots of children. This is THE hotel for those looking for quality relax, peace and quiet. Our standard room looks out to the stunning beach of Maspalomas, higher category rooms look out over the main pool. We are foodies and being kept very happy with the huge and luxurious breakfast buffet, as well as plenty of choice on set dinner menu nights and legendary barbecue buffets. Our beds are turned down each evening with chocolates and a fresh bottle of mineral water left for us. Tomorrow himself and I are going to treat ourselves to a blissful rasul exfoliation treatment in the spa. This hotel may not be the cheapest but you are paying for-5 star design comfort, a luxury experience and second to none service. (UK tv and a kettle in our room really were the icing on the cake). We will be back!
