Day 1: Christchurch Your New Zealand adventure begins in the ‘Garden City’ of Christchurch. Spend the afternoon at leisure before joining your Travel Director and fellow travellers for a welcome drink and dinner.

Day 2: Christchurch to Franz Josef Travel on the TranzAlpine train for a memorable journey across the Canterbury Plains. Board the coach at Arthur’s Pass and visit Hokitika to admire the vivid hues of greenstone (jade) on a visit to Hokitika for a jewellery carving demonstration. Continue to Franz Josef Glacier, where you can relax in geothermal hot pools. Spend tonight in pristine wilderness.

Day 3: Franz Josef Glacier Explore the local area after a leisurely start and learn about the history of Franz Josef Glacier.

Day 7 Queenstown to Milford Sound Venture to Te Anau and then deep within the Fiordland National Park. Drive through the hand-hewn Homer Tunnel and emerge into a photographer’s paradise where glaciers and peaks give way to the unexpected beauty of Mirror Lake. You’ll stop to explore the wonder of the Chasm Walk before arriving at Milford Sound Lodge, with its jaw-dropping views of the Cleddau Valley.

Day 8 Milford Sound Board the Southern Discoveries vessel for a half-day exploration of beautiful Milford Sound. Sail out to the Tasman Sea keeping an eye out for wildlife.

Take a city tour back in Wellington and visit Te Papa Museum of New Zealand.
