Halong Bay: 1 night
Day 1: Hanoi to Halong Bay Depart the city of Hanoi for Halong Bay (approx. 110 miles; 3½-4 hours). Board the luxurious Violet Cruise for your overnight cruise. Lunch is served as you sail to Cua Van, a large floating village. From here, transfer by tender to Tien Ong cave where human bones and artifacts dating to 10,000-8000 BC were discovered in 2007. After a short tour of the cave you'll re-board the tender to return to the village. Here, you'll have the choice to explore by a small bamboo boat rowed by a local. Sail to the Luom Bo area to anchor for the night. Learn about Vietnamese cuisine during a cooking demonstration before dinner is served. Enjoy an evening at leisure when the Ginger moors for the night. L, D.
Day 2: Halong Bay to Hanoi Rise early to enjoy tea, coffee and pastries served on board before an optional 20-minute t'ai chi session on the sundeck. Transfer by tender to the island of Ti Tip where you can swim from the beach or hike up 400 stone steps to the top for incredible views over the bay. There is also a large viewing deck about half way up which is a great spot for taking photos if you don't fancy hiking all the way to the top. Return to your vessel for breakfast and spend some time relaxing on the sundeck and enjoying the scenery before disembarking at Tuan Chau. Transfer to Hanoi by road and return to your city hotel. B.
