Out of this world experience, our range Eddy, was brilliant and very knowledgeable, we even had a few words in Shona with him. Elvis was very welcoming, he is a wonderful host, goes the extra mile, him and his team were fantastic. We will definitely go back
Amazing bush break
We spent two nights in one the luxury family tents at Hlosi. Amakhala is one of the most beautiful reserves we have stayed at. Staff were friendly and always happy to help with anything needed. Andrew Wolstenholm was our brilliant and knowledgeable ranger. Elvis, Kayleigh and team were also fantastic. Food excellent. Highly recommend. We look forward to going back!
Amazing, beautiful lodges and farm
Had an amazing time at hlosi, saw so many different animals and the food was amazing. We had an amazing guide named Andrew, he was very knowledgeable and hospitable as where all the other staff. Superb place to stay
We stayed for 3 nights during our honeymoon last September. Our first day we arrived at lunchtime and it was hotter than we had expected so we were struggling to get used to the heat and we had a tent which get very warm during the day. We never worked out the best way to keep it cool in the end, although there is air con inside. Nights were very comfortable at a much cooler temperature. Bed was extremely comfy and the outdoor shower was great! The staff were wonderful during our stay! We had a small issue with the standard of vegetarian food initially and I left a dinner and breakfast. On returning to our tent, we had a knock at the door from a manager and a chef saying they had noticed I had left some food and how could they help. Apologies for not remembering names - it was while ago now! We spoke to them at length about what had been wrong and they asked what I did and didn't like to eat and every meal after that was wonderful. I was bowled over by the care and attention the food situation was given. They really do strive to make your stay as wonderful as possible! There is no shortage of food here - they provide drinks and a light breakfast before you set off in the morning and while you're out on the drives there's a stop for coffee's and snacks and in the evening it's beer, wine and snacks. They also do afternoon tea along with the 3 main meals. The game drives were wonderful - first one is a shock to the system as it's so early but the rangers are so knowledgeable - you learn so much! We had Lungelo for our 6 game drives and he was fantastic. He encouraged us to ask questions and be curious about the things around us. We learnt about plants and bugs aswell as the big animals. We saw everything except leopards and one family asked on their last day to see lions and Lungelo delivered. We didn't just see one, we saw a family of 3! It was spectacular! The highlights are too many to list but some were our breakfast stop with the giraffes, the rhino's, the entire pack of elephants (both out on drives and stopping at the lodge for a dip!) and learning about termites! We had a wonderful experience at Hlosi and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend it! Top tips: take warm layers for the dawn and dusk drives as it gets chilly. Utilise the spa options. We had a massage each and it was excellent. There isn't a huge amount of space around the pool so take books/things to do inbetween drives and meals. Take a good camera for the game drives!
My trip to Amakhala Hlosi Lodge was one that will forever bring a smile to my face and warnth to my heart. My sister, her husband I stayed at the lodge for 3 nights. The service was exceptional from the minute we were picked up from the airport to the minute we were dtopped off. Every person went out of their way to esure that we were taken care of in the best way possible. The luxury tent was amazing - not a typical "tent". The beds were so comfortable and the view from the bed was the bush!!! The food was non-stop and outstanding! The people who work here are so warm. One of the guests celebrated their birthday one night and the kitchen staff presented her with a cake, song and dance. They then broke out into African singing and dancing wiith the drum and it brought me to tears as I had not heard this in 32 years since I had moved to Canada. Singing with them was magical and brought the african out of me again - so blessed and grateful! The game drives were spectacular and our ranger/driver (Everence), made the trip memorable. I leant so much about life from this man - so wise, genuine and inspirational. We saw 4 of the big 5 and he went out of his way to ensure we had outstanding game drives. He extended our one afternoon drive late into the evening so that we could see the male lion - what an experience to hear and see this magestic animal in the flesh! Thank you again for a once in a lifetime experience that I will never forget.
