The Ranch at Death Valley
The Ranch at Death Valley is a casual and fuss-free place to hang your hat. Pockets of green and a great pool feel like a covert refuge from the desert heat.
It might not be easy to find palm trees and a natural spring-fed heated pool in Death Valley’s arid desert, but The Ranch serves up both. Designed to mimic an old-western town square, it’s got low-key village vibes. There’s an abundantly stocked general store, old-world post office, and a swinging doors saloon restaurant kitted out with all the paraphernalia you’d expect to find in a hunting lodge. Here, you’re just as likely to be saddling up on a horse at the adjoining stables as you are teeing off at the lowest elevation golf course in the country. The Ranch at Death Valley offers you a green oasis and a few extra creative experiences - horse-drawn carriage rides, the pioneer-era Borax museum and jeep rental for rugged explorers. Sitting right next door to the fantastic Furnace Creek Visitors Centre, you can easily check into the park, chat with well-informed rangers, get your maps and orientation, and add a US park stamp to your passport. A 20-minute scenic drive through canyons and mountains, and you’re rewarded with a technicoloured display of pastel-hued rocks at Artists Palette. Locally Paid Fees & Taxes: Expect to pay approximately $22 per room per night for hotel resort fees and local taxes.
