Highlights of trip
Siem Reap
Sensational Siem Reap is up first and it sets the tone perfectly for your adventure ahead. The city is the gateway to the legendary Angkor Archaeological Park, a vast collection of temples of varying levels of ruin – some still beautifully preserved or restored to their former glory, and others being overtaken by the surrounding jungle. Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom and Ta Phrom are considered the ‘big three’ but you’ve got time to see some of smaller, lesser visited spots like Ta Nei and the intricately detailed Banteary Srei.
Just a stone’s throw from the temples, this 5-star sanctuary captures the real essence of Cambodia.
World-class luxury, sublime service and a super-chic design with Khmer influences.
This modern hotel is an ideal base to explore the spectacular Temples of Angkor.
Rural Cambodia
Swap the country’s top tourist spot for a spot that’s far more remote and rural. Farmhouse Resort & Spa is set on the Smiling Gecko Campus, a DERTOUR Foundation-supported project which supports almost 30,000 members of the local community. Spend a few days at this luxe, sustainable resort getting to know the people, the project and the area on guided tours and hands-on activities. Between activities, retreat to the spa and sit down to some mouthwatering dishes created by local chefs and with farm-to-table produce.
Phnom Penh
It’s just a short hop to the Cambodian capital, Phnom Penh. Sitting on the western bank of the meandering Mekong River, the city gives you something of a contrasting experience. There are glorious reminders of the past with stunning temples, pagodas and the gilded Royal Palace, but you’ll also see and explore the relics and reminders of the country’s more recent dark history too. A couple of days here is enough to see both sides of the city before you move on to the seashore.
A tranquil retreat at the heart of the city, just a short walk from the Independence Monument.
Delve into Cambodian history at Phnom Penh’s eclectic and landmark hotel, in a superb central location.
Koh Rong
We’ve set aside three full days for some total beachfront relaxation. You’ll head to Sihanoukville and then cross to Koh Rong, a Cambodian island that has those picture-perfect white sand beaches and clear blue seas, for a complete castaway (but make it luxe) experience. Go while it still has that ‘untouched and undiscovered’ vibe.
A Cambodian paradise with private villas dotted along a 500-metre stretch of immaculate beach.
