Day 1

Arrive in Sri Lanka

Arrive in Colombo and meet your chauffeur-guide before travelling inland to your peaceful retreat near Sigiriya. Settle into your surroundings, soak up the views and enjoy a gentle introduction to Sri Lanka after your flight.

Day 2

Sigiriya

Rise early to climb the magnificent Sigiriya Rock Fortress, an ancient royal citadel dramatically perched atop a towering rock. The panoramic views over the surrounding countryside make the ascent worthwhile. Spend the rest of the day at leisure or choose an optional safari in Minneriya National Park, where large elephant herds are often seen roaming the grasslands.

Day 3

Sigiriya to Kandy

Today you'll travel south towards Kandy, stopping en route at the remarkable Dambulla Cave Temple. This UNESCO-listed complex is home to a series of cave shrines decorated with centuries-old Buddhist murals and statues. Continue to Kandy, Sri Lanka's cultural capital, where you'll spend the next two nights.

Day 4

Kandy

Discover the highlights of Kandy on a guided tour. Visit the revered Temple of the Tooth and wander through the lush Royal Botanical Gardens before ending the day with a vibrant cultural performance featuring traditional Kandyan dancing and fire walking.

Day 5

Kandy to Idalgashinna

Journey into Sri Lanka's spectacular Hill Country. Along the way, board the famous train from Nanu Oya to Ella, travelling through emerald tea plantations, misty mountains and picturesque villages. After time to explore Ella, continue to Idalgashinna and your boutique villa, surrounded by some of the most beautiful scenery in the country.

Days 6 & 7

Idalgashinna

The next two days are all about experiencing life in Sri Lanka's tea-growing heartland. Enjoy one of the villa's signature experiences, beginning with a short train journey through the hills before setting out on a guided walk past tea estates and working factories. Visit a local village home to learn how to prepare a traditional sweet treat and enjoy a cup of tea while hearing stories about daily life in the region. Back at the villa, spend the afternoon relaxing by the pool, unwinding in the wood-fired sauna or simply admiring the far-reaching mountain views.

Day 8

Idalgashinna to Bentota

Leave the mountains behind and travel to Sri Lanka's west coast. Your final retreat is a charming boutique beach property in Bentota, perfectly positioned for a few days of relaxation. The golden sands are just moments away, while the property's unique setting beside the historic coastal railway adds plenty of character.

Days 9 & 10

Bentota

Spend your final few days exactly as you please, whether that's unwinding by the pool, strolling along the beach or simply enjoying the laid-back atmosphere. For those looking to explore a little further, optional experiences include a boat safari along the Madu River, a visit to a mangrove conservation project or an excursion into Sri Lanka's natural landscapes.

Day 11

Depart Sri Lanka

After a final breakfast overlooking the coast, transfer to the airport for your flight home.
