Spices of Grenada
When on the Spice Isle, there’s no excuse for not discovering more about the island’s most famous exports. You’ll see two sides to Grenada’s food industry: first, there’s the modern De La Grenade Industries, an award-winning food producer where you can try a variety of products made from locally grown nutmeg; then there are Gemma’s Home Garden, a charming private garden set on a steep hillside where flowers, fruits and trees grow, and an aromatic herb and spice garden. Then it’s back to the coast for a visit to a once royally owned estate, La Sagesse Nature Centre, where you’ll sit down to a refreshing afternoon tea.

Best time to visit Grenada
Grenada is a fabulous place. Not only does it have white-sand beaches and turquoise bays, but it also has rainforest hikes, nutmeg plantations, and colourful villages. To make the most of it all, it’s helpful to know that the weather doesn’t swing wildly, but there are two broad seasons to keep in mind. January to May tends to be drier and less humid. From June to December, rain becomes more regular, especially in the afternoons. While hurricane season peaks between August and October, Grenada lies on the southern edge of the hurricane belt, so direct hits are rare, though not impossible.

Grenada Weather by Month
January in Grenada
The year starts gently. January brings warm days, blue skies, and a breeze that keeps things feeling comfortable. You can expect daytime temperatures around 29 degrees and evenings that don’t call for more than something light and summery. It’s a good month for walking the coastal trails, exploring the market in St George’s, or just floating in the sea. Waterfalls are still flowing nicely after the wetter months, and everything feels refreshed.
February in Grenada
February behaves much like January but with a little more sunshine and even less rain. It’s one of the driest months, so you can wander, snorkel, or sit outside all day without thinking too hard about the forecast. Inland areas stay green and breezy, while the beaches are calm and ideal for swimming. If you’re keen to see a bit more of the island, this is a good time for day trips without the heat slowing you down too much.
March in Grenada
The middle of the dry season and often the month with the steadiest weather. Skies are clear, sea conditions are smooth, and the hills still have a good amount of green. If you’re keen on diving or snorkelling, visibility is usually excellent now, and the water is warm enough to stay in as long as you like. It’s also a good time for hiking through Grand Etang on a rainforest walk or visiting a local spice grower, when the heat isn’t too overwhelming.
April in Grenada
It’s dry, but you might notice the air getting a little heavier as the island starts edging toward the rainy season. Temperatures are warm, usually just over 30 degrees during the day, and the sea is at its best. The hills are starting to lightly sun-scorch, but the beaches are wide open and lovely, and you can still count on plenty of sun.
May in Grenada
A shift in pace begins in May. Rain becomes a bit more common, especially in the late afternoon, but there’s still plenty of sun. It’s a quieter time on the island, and the heat picks up slightly, with days nudging 31 degrees. The rain helps everything green up again, and the waterfalls start to grow louder.
June in Grenada
The wet season begins to settle in properly, though it’s rarely dramatic. Most showers come in the afternoon or overnight, leaving mornings clear and calm. The island’s greenery kicks back into gear, and you’ll see fruit stands bursting with mangoes and avocados. It’s still warm and bright, but the air feels heavier. The sea stays inviting, and if you're up early, it’s a lovely time for walks before the heat builds.
July in Grenada
This is a month for early starts and slow afternoons. July brings more rain, more humidity, and fewer visitors, but the island is full of colour and movement. Markets are busy with summer produce, gardens are overflowing, and the rainforest looks like it’s had a good drink. It’s still easy to get around, and if you don’t mind the occasional downpour, it’s a great time to explore the interior.
August in Grenada
Rain is more regular now, and the heat sticks around, with plenty of humidity in the mix. Some days bring short showers, others more of a dramatic soak, but there’s always a bright patch not far behind. This is the month when everything is fully green, and the scent of spices seems to hang heavier in the air. It’s a slower time, and while there’s a risk of a tropical storm, many days are simply warm and breezy with a quick rinse mid-afternoon.
September in Grenada
This is the quietest time of year on the island. Some small guesthouses take a break, and the weather can be unpredictable, with occasional stormy spells. But it’s not without its charm. The beaches are peaceful, the rainforest is vivid, and you’ll often have popular spots to yourself. If you’re happy to dodge showers and take the days as they come, September offers a quieter kind of escape.
October in Grenada
Still part of the quiet, rainy stretch, but with a few more dry spells starting to appear, especially later in the month. The air is thick and warm, the hills are thriving, and it’s a good time to head inland where the waterfalls are properly full. There’s a sense of calm on the island, and while you’ll likely get rained on at least once a day, the sun usually finds its way back out.
November in Grenada
Things begin to balance out again. Rain starts to ease up, particularly in the second half of the month, and there’s a bit more blue sky to go around. The sea stays warm, and the beaches begin to see a few more footprints. It’s still green and fragrant from months of rain, but you can start to feel the dry season building momentum.
December in Grenada
December often brings the return of clear mornings, calmer seas, and that clean, just-after-the-rain feeling. The island feels freshly washed, and there’s an easygoing energy in the air as the festive season approaches. Temperatures are around 29 degrees during the day, and the evenings are perfect for a drink outside without a jumper.
