Best stay and customer service experience
First of all, let me start by saying that due to COVID-19, we were forced to stay in Abu Dhabi and not travel this summer. So we decided to do a staycation every weekend in a hotel in Abu Dhabi. We decided to come back to St Regis Saadiyaat after staying in a number of 5* hotels and we will continue staying there every weekend till the end of summer. By far, this is the best hotel experience we had. Not only in Abu Dhabi, but around the world. We are travelers and have visited many 5 star hotels from the Maldives all the way to Miami. St Regis Saadiyaat is another level of luxury, attention to detail, and customer satisfaction all together. We had many staff come up to us and ask us if there is anything they can do to make our experience more enjoyable. From the moment we were greeted at check-in and until we checked out, everything was outstanding! I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking to enjoy a fabulous and luxury hotel stay! They have changed our perspective on staycations all together and we might be doing more of that in the future.. A big thank you to Anthony Guiron, a Butler at the hotel, who paid special attention to us! One more thing I forgot to mention, there breakfast is fantastic!!!
I want to thank this amazing hotel and the very friendly, kindest, helpful staff. We r a big family and we booked for two days and they were fantastic because of there efforts to make this 2 days unforgettable vacation for our family. They want you to be comfortable whatever, we were very very happy, all the kids noticed the quality of the service. Thank you so much for everything and see you next time soon.
Average hotel but poor by St Regis standard
Having stayed at the St Regis Abu Dhabi on the Corniche and had positive experiences, I had always wanted to give the Saadiyat Island property a try. Upon entering the lobby, there was temperature monitoring, complimentary face masks and gloves and a hostess welcoming and directing me to the check in desks. It was a promising start. Check in was prompt but that was the end of the St Regis experience. There was no mentioning of the butler service. I had to navigate my way to my room. At other St Regis locations, when butlers are busy they would turn up at the door and introduce themselves within minutes of my entering the room. None of this whatsoever. Never during my entire stay did the imaginary butler make an appearance. Not that I am incapable of unpacking my own bag or making my own tea and frankly I don’t usually bother bothering them, but as a USP for the brand, this is a faux pas. Service has been generally sketchy throughout the property. I have been to the beach twice and made use of the 3 pools over 5 separate entries. Despite the presence of service staff at all locations at all times, I was only offered water twice out of the 7 occasions. At the pools of other St Regis properties, the service staff will lay the sunbed for guests and offer water without asking. Some positives - complimentary face masks were available at all pool and beach entrances and it is amazing to have 3 outdoor pools (one exclusively for adults) and one indoor pool at the hotel, although the one indoor was closed during my stay. The gym is bizarrely not technically onsite. Guests have to venture outside the main building, cross a private road, walk down a few steps and carry on walking to get there – not ideal in 49C heat. There is a good spread of equipment at the gym nonetheless. The room is on the small side by UAE standard. The bathroom has double vanity although weirdly separated by a walk in shower. To go from one side to the other, one can either walk through the shower (which I wouldn’t recommend for health and safety reasons) or exit and reenter the bathroom through a separate door. The décor is seaside themed – drawers made of woven baskets and table legs from drift wood. Wear and tear was apparent and luxury was not the first adjective that came to my mind. Breakfast at the Olea restaurant was OK. It’s good that breakfast was served until 1pm like other St Regis properties. Being a recently-relegated-to-gold Bonvoy member, my request for a 2pm late check out was declined on grounds of the hotel being fully occupied. I am not sure if that can be true considering government restrictions on maximum occupancy during COVID. Even if true, I hope that housekeeping really will spend the full 3 hours between 12pm (check out time) and 3pm (check in time) deep cleaning the rooms after every guest’s departure.
I had awesome staybat this resort. My Butler Anthony Guiron was very receptive to my needs during my stay. The views and room service was spectacular. I would recommend this place to anyone visiting the area for personal or business.
Incredible care and attention to detail
It is not my first time staying at this fantastic resort. But it is the first time venturing out during the pandemic. I had heard that some of the resorts on Saadiyat island were struggling to keep up with the changes necessary and quality / service was dropping; not this place! It is busy. It is EID week. But there’s plenty of staff to make sure you’re not only safe and looked after - I can honestly say every single person here is going above and beyond expectations to make our stay special. The breakfast room was busy-ish this morning but the service did not suffer. They have extended the breakfast hours to accommodate everyone - which means my teen can have a lie-in, a swim and then leisurely have her breakfast! The fact that there’s no buffet is actually nice. We were immediately served some fruit, yogurt and pastries. We chose items from a menu - and all was fresh and hot and no buffet means less waste - which is a concept I appreciate. Best pancakes ever according to my daughter. Food at the pool and beach is great. Water gets refreshed regularly and ice-lollies and fruit skewers handed out throughout the day. Our favourite restaurant Sontaya has been excellent and again, super accommodating with attention to all the details (also - the duck curry is just perfect). We are still here and making sure we make the most of it. And I’m already looking at when we can come back!
