Great beach resort, a bit remote
We stayed 4 nights in Bluebay, and had a good experience overall. The property is vast, with 3 restaurants, a great pool and a pvt beachfront. It is a bit out of the way and far from stone town and other attractions. If you truly want to experience Zanzibar, I would recommend you live in stone town. Rooms: decently large, with a nice sitout. You cannot use the sitout after evening due to mosquitoes. There was no AC in our room, so we had to ask for a pedestal fan. The weather is very hot and sticky, so ensure you get an AC room. The bathrooms are very small for the quality of the hotel and definitely should be larger. Food : very good spread at the breakfast and dinner buffets. The dinner buffets have a theme which differs every night, and there is enough variety for all tastes. The breakfast buffet is also vast and good quality. Service is very good, and the staff is especially attentive to the needs of small children. Facilities : the pool is great, as is the beachfront. They have a plethora of watersports available, as well as organised tours. I would advise you to organise your own tours through local contacts, as they will probably be 50% of the price compared to the travel desk. Overall, really good as a beach property, however the real taste of Zanzibar is in Stone Town.
Bluebay Beach Resort
Wonderful place, great service, it definitely deserves 5 stars. I have never met before such a friendly staff in a hotel, everybody are helpful, always with a great attitude, literally making your holidays the best time in your life. I was impressed by the beautiful, daily tended garden with lush vegetation. A place rather for people who travel without children, I definitely recommend it for a romantic holiday for two or for a group of friends. Live music in the evenings, table tennis and billiards available.
Going to Zanzibar and not staying at Blue Bay would not have been the same experience! It was the best stay I have ever had. When we arrive at the Hotel, they welcome us to paradise. You have to experience this hotel to truly understand why ... Even so, I will try to describe what you will find. The Hotel is beautiful. Located at the best coast in Zanzibar. The beach is breathtaking. I have to emphasize the commitment and affection of all the hotel staff, their only purpose is to provide the best for their guests. I loved meeting them all. The gastronomic experience that Blue Bay provides is amazing. I staid at the hotel during the COVID19 pandemic, due to the low occupancy during these periods sometimes buffet was not available but a varied menu was available with two options of soups, main courses and deserts to choose from. I was delighted with the food, and that doesn't happen often to me when I travel. In addition to the swimming pool, gym and tennis court, the Hotel provides kayaks, stand up paddle, windsurf and kitesurf boards free of charge. You will also find a ping-pong and pool tables, and a mini multi-language library. As in the vast majority of the beaches on the island you need to take into account the tides (available for consultation on the internet and at the hotel) both for swimming and for water sports. Depending on the tides variation, it may not be possible to swim or practice water sports. Given the quality and variety of complementary services offered by the hotel, this will not be a problem. However, I strongly recommend planning your day taking into account the tides, both at the hotel and outside (tours, etc). Only in the north of the island (Kendwa and Nungwi) can we go swimming all day, but note that they are very tourist areas, which despite being very beautiful and worth visiting have not won our preference for accomodation. There is a diving club at the hotel which is managed separately. Mmemba atoll is just 15 km from the hotel. The rooms are spacious, have a super comfortable bed with a mosquito net and air-conditioning. As the all other areas at the hotel they are very clean. The superior rooms have a fantastic view over the beach. Every night the friendly staff spray anti-mosquito, which combined with the mosquito net keeps mosquitos away. A safe is available on your room at no extra-cost. It should be used as a preventive measure, we considered the hotel very safe. The island is safe too. This hotel works great for both families and couples on half-board and all-inclusive options. The hotel is nicely located with good access to other interesting places in the island. The internet is available throughout the hotel, it is free and of excellent quality. I Highly, highly recommend this hotel.
The hotel was so welcoming & felt homely. I really enjoyed my stay & more importantly the safety measure which were taken by the management for spreading of covid 19 were very impressive. My Special Thanks goes to the wonderful & charming Managers Mr Daas & Mr Jonathan for taking such a good care of me & also to Spa Manager.. The hotel Spa was extra ordinary. & staff was very friendly & helpful. Overall I really enjoyed my stay. Asante Sana
Peaceful and Lovely Blue sea
The hotel was very welcoming, right from when we arrived. We had taken the half board option, and enjoyed all the meals served to us. No buffet, due to low season, but they catered to our likes and dislikes. Special mention to Mr Das, and his entire staff. Always warmly greeted us, and solved any issue immediately. They do serve tea and coffee between 4-5pm with cake and biscuits. All in the package included. The swimming pool was a nice size, and very inviting. The sea was just beautiful. There were several interesting communal places to sit and enjoy the hotel premises, as we were a large group. All in all, we had a very enjoyable experience.
