 JAZ Elite Aurora

Sunsets and slides

This high-energy all-inclusive on Zanzibar’s Michamvi Peninsula has a west-facing beach for fabulous sunsets, a jetty for sundowners, and Zanzibar’s largest pool.

JAZ Elite Aurora is the answer when you want Zanzibar with plenty going on. This large all-inclusive resort sits in Michamvi Kae on the island’s east coast, where its beachfront setting is known for year-round sunsets. There are 346 rooms, suites, swim-up units, and villas, alongside a 600-metre stretch of white sand, Zanzibar’s largest pool, a relaxing adults’ pool, a waterpark pool, Kids Club, spa, and a dining line-up that goes well beyond the standard buffet-and-repeat formula. Spend the morning in the waterpark, take lunch by the pool, head out to Jozani Forest, then finish with a cocktail on the jetty as the sky turns dramatic.

Why we love JAZ Elite Aurora

  • The setting is a clever one. You’re on Zanzibar’s east coast, but the beach is known for its sunsets

  • The pool scene is properly impressive, from Zanzibar’s largest pool to a relaxing adults’ pool, swim-up rooms, and a separate waterpark pool with slides

  • You can move between Mediterranean dishes, seafood on the jetty, sushi, teppanyaki, poolside grills, and an international buffet, so dinner can feel different every night

  • It works for families, couples, and mixed-age groups because the livelier areas don’t take over the whole resort. Children have the waterpark pool and Kids Club, while adults can retreat to the relaxing pool, spa facilities or the sunset jetty

This is one of those all-inclusive resorts where dinner doesn’t have to mean another lap of the same buffet. Start with the international spread at the main restaurant, then mix in Japanese teppanyaki on the jetty, seafood with the sea in view, Mediterranean plates, sushi, and casual grills by the pool.

Zaafarani
The main all-day restaurant, serving international dishes and enough choice to keep breakfast, lunch, and dinner from feeling repetitive.

Moto
A jetty teppanyaki restaurant where chefs cook Japanese specialities in front of you as you dine under the stars. This venue carries a supplement.

Samaki
A seafood-led restaurant on the jetty, made for a longer dinner with the Indian Ocean around you and the sunset doing its thing in the background.

Breeze
A relaxed Mediterranean restaurant and snack bar, ideal for an easy lunch or a casual dinner.

Pilipili Sushi Bar
Freshly prepared sushi in a more intimate setting.

Mwamba Grill
A poolside grill and snack bar for easy daytime plates, cold drinks, and meals that don’t require leaving your sun lounger for long.

Palm Court
The lobby lounge for coffee and a quieter pause between pool time and dinner.

Luma Cocktail Bar
A cocktail bar for golden-hour drinks before dinner.

The Pier
A jetty-view bar and lounge for signature cocktails and wide sea views after dark.

What's Included

All Inclusive • Breakfast at Zaafarani • Lunch at Zaafarani, Breeze or Mwamba Grill • Dinner at Zaafarani, Breeze, Mwamba Grill, Pilipili or Samaki • Drinks including house wines, local beers and spirits, soft drinks and filtered water (served by the glass) • Access to Aqua Park • Jazy Kids Club • Daily sports and leisure activities: pool games, water aerobics, bocccia, yoga, padel (prior reservation required)

The spa complex gives you somewhere peaceful to retreat to, with a fully equipped gym, sauna, and hammam alongside the resort’s wider Mividaspa offering. The relaxing adults’ pool gives you a quieter place to read, doze, or simply stay put while the rest of the resort gets on with the slides.

The resort has a Diving & Aqua Center for those who want to get beyond the pools and beach, with specialist activities available at an extra charge. The wider Zanzibar coast is also known for snorkelling, diving, boat trips, dhow cruises, and kiteboarding, so you can mix resort downtime with proper time on the water.

This is a particularly good fit for families who want plenty of choice beyond the beach. There is a waterpark pool with slides, a Kids Club, swim-up room options, a padel court, and enough restaurant variety to keep mealtimes interesting. Older children will gravitate towards the slides, pools, padel, and beach activities, while younger ones have their own water-based play space and Kids Club.
