The room was decent. The food was good. I just stayed for a few days. It's good for families and couples. The room we got was pretty spacious. I just expected the prices to be a bit lower but overall it was a good experience. I love Saint Lucia
Luxury Price - Not Luxury Service
I got married in St Lucia and stayed at another hotel for the first 10 days of time there. My husband and kids, my parents, and my best friends and their family decided to stay at Windjammer Landing for the last 5 days of our holiday. We thought we were saving the best till last - we couldn't have been more wronger. We were utterly disappointed. Windjammer is very expensive so we had expected an amazing luxurious experience. We'd read great things about the customer service, the facilities and the kids' club among other things. Firstly, when we checked in, our rooms weren't ready and we waited a very very long time to check in. We waited an hour for our rooms to be ready and my elderly parents' room wasn't ready until the evening (4 hours later) so they had to nap in my room. The hotel wasn't very apologetic about this. In terms of the room, we had not realised that the family rooms were split level, with a quite scary winding staircase leading downstairs. In the end, we didn't use the downstairs. We requested a stair-gate and they did come quite soon to install it. The gate turned out to be a plank of wood which slotted in between the walls. It was a barrier but the was plank shorter than our 1 year old, so while it was better than nothing, it wouldn't have taken much for him to go over it and sustain a nasty injury on the winding staircase - this meant that we had to be extra vigilant all the time, which made us quite anxious. Customer service in the hotel was friendly but nowhere as warm as in our previous hotel. Unless you're a timeshare holder (or have a grizillion dollars to spend), it's very unlikely you'll have a room within easy walking distance of the reception, facilities (except a couple of the restaurants) and the beach. The apartments are up a steep mountain and you need to rely on a shuttle bus to collect you and take you down and vice versa. On some occasions when we phoned for a shuttle it would arrive very quickly within minutes, other times it could take ages (30 minutes was the longest). Oversights didn't seem to bother the management much, we were all charged for our breakfasts despite it having been included in what we'd paid. We pointed this out at checkout and they (eventually, after half an hour) removed the costs. However, my parents had not realised we'd paid for their breakfasts when we paid for the rooms and when they were asked to pay, they had paid on the spot. At checkout, I was promised that these payments would be refunded within a week - it took 3 emails (two were ignored) and 3 months before they finally agreed to refund it. Checkout took us one hour (making us run late to the airport) as we were told we had to wait for other customers to be checked out. We had high expectations of the kids club but all out children (my 8 year old and my friends' 7, 5 and 4 year old were so disappointed and bored that they didn't want to go after the first couple of tries. The restaurants were generally good, but long waits (for example, one hour to have our order even taken!) were common. We were all disappointed and our stay at Windjammer Landing highlighted how amazing our previous hotel had been in every way. The vibe was so different from the previous hotel. Whereas the previous hotel had been calm, laid back and super-friendly, this hotel was uncomfortably busy, chaotic at times and cold (emotionally). Many customers also seemed to be different too; colder and ruder. It wasn't uncommon for customers to be rude to the shuttle drivers and obnoxious. Our overall impression was that some customers received much more preferential treatment, especially if they were American. And if you're a timeshare holder, you will be a highly regarded customer. In addition, BAME customers don't appear to be valued as highly as other guests, receiving quite dismissive service and regularly having other customers prioritised in front of them. All this seems to attract a different clientele from other hotels on the island. (Due to our wedding, we visited around 6 hotels during our time there). In one of my emails to management, I highlighted the problems mentioned here; their response made no reference to any of the points I'd made. Windjammer has a reputation as a luxury resort, it is possible that a consequence of this is that they do not strive to improve in the way other hotels do. All in all, staying at Windjammer Landing could be an amazing experience for young people (not elderly), couples or groups without children, and people perceived to be wealthier potential time-share owners. Unfortunately, it was not a great experience for us and having stayed in a fantastic but much cheaper 4 star hotel before Windjammer, we know Windjammer was value for money.
This is a beautiful property, with the first impression of WOW. The registration building is big, the staff is very welcoming, views of the beautiful pool, part of great, expansive beach and some of the shops and restaurants. Unless you are very athletic, you will shuttle to your room. The shuttles are many, 24 hours a day and radio dispatched. From our room, we would call for shuttle and by the time we could walk to the drive, one would be waiting, they were a non issue. All the rooms are on the ocean front of a mountain with water views. Our one bedroom suite was large, well appointed and very comfortable, the lanai was large and private for total sunning. We found all the staff very friendly and helpful, the shuttle drivers, bar tenders and restaurant wait staff. The food was always good. We will return and highly recommend this resort.
Weekend Trip to St. Lucia
Beautiful resort tucked away in the hills. Loved the vibe of this resort. Would definitely recommend checking out this resort. The food was exceptionally good, staff was very pleasant and very accommodating to our requirements. Shuttle service was available to take us to and from our rooms. The beach was probably my least favorite part of this trip, simply because there were to many rocks in the water.
Perfect place to have a vow renewal
Where to begin? We started planning our trip back to our favorite resort back in August 2019 for a stay in March 2020. We knew we were going for a guaranteed amazing vacation but then we decided to make it even more special by renewing our vows. We contacted the phenomenal wedding planner, Melanie, and she was so wonderful to work with. She made everything easy & fun to plan. There were so many options we were able to have the exact ceremony that we were hoping for. It was perfect for us. Melanie also added in a few extra special details that were so thoughtful and above and beyond our expectations. The whole experience was so special. Our gratitude goes along to all of the incredible staff at the resort too. From all of the shuttle drivers, to the guest services, all of the wait & barkeep staff. They were sincere and attentive & made us feel like friends and not simply guests. This was our third trip to The Windjammer Landing and I can say it gets better and better each time. We cannot wait to return!!
