We have travelled to Tenerife with Iberostar for many years. This is our first time in The Iberostar Selection Anthelia. Wow what can I say everything about this hotel is fabulous. The beds are soooooo comfy, rooms are most defo 5*. The staff are absolutley brilliant esp. Tyler Diago & Antonio these 3 guys really made out holiday. The spa is such a relaxing space with all facilities you would expect and more. Porofino & Poseidon Restaurants are a class act. We travelled during Covid, the hotels protocols are 2nd to none We actually felt safer here in the Anthelia than we do at home. I have already booked our 2021 holiday we cannot wait to get back. Thankyou Anthelia what a hotel !!!!
Just come back from a 11 day holiday at this hotel. We were originally going to the las dalias but that was cancelled so we were placed in the bourginville both iberostar.that was then closed so we were upgraded to here. What an amazing hotel,we could not fault it one bit. All the staff were amazing food excellent and all drinks and brands included in the all inclusive package. A big thanks to iberostar for upgrading us to here, if you can afford it it’s well worth it and in a great location.
Absolutely fantastic Hotel
Hi there once again went to the Iberostar Anthelia in September 10 nights for my 65th birthday, We were supposed to be going to the Iberostar bourganvile playa but it was closing down on the 21st September but we were flying out on the 17th September so they let us go two to the Iberostar Anthelia. It is a absolutely fabulous place whot can you say about this place we were star prestige alc high floor side sea view the rooms are gorgeous beautiful from the superb bathroom to the beautiful king size bed and a lovely sea view. Because of Covid-19 we had to were mask walking round and to fetch our food which was top class and the pools were great and you could book the restaurants extra shot they also have there. My wife booked one of them for my birthday on the 22nd September the food was lovely and we had a bottle of Moet, after the beautiful meal out came the staff with a birthday cake and everyone sing as well happy birthday to me and al the people eating sang to me,the cake was so beautiful it made my night and when l was expecting a big bill coming one of the hotel managers said it was on the house for my birthday how lovely thank you so much. The Hotel is really worth every penny of its 5star rating the staff work so hard rooms are cleaned spotlessly this is why we always book Iberostar straight through the hotels. We are already looking when to come again thank you all Iberostar.
Great pools and buffet BUT so Noisy
Starting with the positives: Location wise Anthelia is positioned 20 mins taxi ride from the airport on the out-skirts (just North) of the Costa Adeje town, but still a short walk (< 10 mins) to a lot of good food/drinking options and close to the volcanic sand beaches. Located at the edge of town seemed more peaceful since I can imagine it gets a little bit hectic at busier times when comparing to other Iberostar options more in town. Hotel staff were very professional and helpful. Cleaning staff efficient and diligent with their cleaning each day without fault. There were two room services per day. The breakfast buffet selection and quality of food was one of the best we've had, which meant you wouldn’t get bored with options. Fantastic experience and well worth it. Also, the staff kept the area very clean and safe for the guests. The salt water pools cleanliness & temperature were perfect. A really welcome relax. We loved spending a few hours pool-side each day, and with a couple of options available it was easy to find a spot to enjoy. We stayed in room 3209 (Carmel building) which was nicely decorated & modern renovated. Large TV on the wall. Big area for bathroom with double basins & rain water shower. There were no facial tissues in room, which would have been nice but a good selection of toiletries gels (body wash, shampoo conditioner), & body cream with the bigger bulk bottles hung on wall. They seemed to be of good quality. There was only a minimal towel offering (2 hand, 2 bath) but these were changed twice daily if need be. And now the negatives: When I travel to somewhere like here with resorts and pools, my main priority is rest and relaxation, so I place this very high on my list of requirements. If you were someone who liked to get up early and go out for activities then this would be less relevant. However, for us, one of the major issues we found was the level of noise in the room! Most days it was like sleeping in the middle of a road! Firstly, let me start by saying that my wife and I are heavy sleepers, however, the room walls were paper thin, and we could hear as much as someone in another room snoring, and opening their safe (button beeps). Early one morning we were woken to someone in a room nearby phone ringing and their subsequent conversation. Some mornings and on nights we were woken up 2 and 3 am by someone having conversations on their balcony. Secondly, since our room was facing the pool, on our first morning we were woken up to children screaming and squealing. We were also woken by the sound of the cleaners with what sounded like shouting at each other and banging and crashing. There’s a massive room separator door which we used the second night that seemed to help with that a little bit. Lastly and by far the worst noise was generated by the rooms’ doors slamming! I’m guessing mostly by the cleaners, but every time the doors were slammed shut, our room shook and the mirror on the wall vibrated. And if you think I’m exaggerating I attach a picture I took of a piece of plaster that I watched fall off the roof one morning while the doors were slamming. And not just rooms nearby but also doors on the other side of building. Each time a door slammed it would send a jolt through your body! Not peaceful at all. If hotel management are reading this, I would recommend it a top priority to remove or adjust all room door closer springs immediately! That would at least help reduce the noise. And perhaps another idea would be to stay in the rooms one night just to experience the noise first hand to get an understanding. The selection of cocktail options from the pool bar was disappointing (only 4) which gets boring and they were the worst looking, with no flare/fruit and some yellow looking liquid poured over ice. They tasted OK but certainly were the worst cocktails I’ve ever had. The Lobby bar had way more options that were better and we were told that the reason for no fruit or fun in the drinks was due to Covid which seemed unbelievable since they were serving fruit at breakfast and other hotels in the area were still doing proper cocktails. That was a little disappointing since they were still full hotel priced. The room shower water temperature randomly fluctuates between hot & cold which was disappointing and painful. One of the power points next to the bed was broken, and the old model room safe stopped working while we were there. The on-site photographer desk should be moved to the hotel reception lobby and not outside the restaurant to pounce on people while they come and go for food. I understand people need to work, but I didn’t like being accosted and pressured to do a photo shoot when I’m trying to eat, relax and especially as I was a paying guest. This kind of hard selling you would expect at a shopping mall or on the street; not in the middle of a nice hotel property. It was such a shame as the hotel has great potential, but sadly the minor issues added up and definitely the amount of noise which affected our sleep and rest means I am rating this hotel average. The great buffet and wonderful pools were by far the greatest attributes of the hotel. Hopefully the hotel can address the issues (especially the noise) we experienced and we would then consider staying again.
Safe and amazing
One more night to go, if your considering coming here and worried about covid...don’t. The hygiene regime here far exceeds the UK, literally not seen one member of staff who hasn’t had a mask and who wasn’t wearing it properly. Mouth and nose always covered, constant cleaning and supervisors monitoring it, very impressive. I actually commented to one of the supervisors who was following staff around making sure they did the clean properly. One minor complaint which is harsh considering the rest of the brilliant staff and I mean 5 star treatment is reception. Asked the same lady for an iron and our mini fridge to be stocked neither was done. Asked another member of staff and sorted immediately.
