Soul of Southern Thailand

A three-stop holiday around southern Thailand beach resorts and natural wonderlands.

This is southern Thailand with the wow turned up. You’ll start north of Phuket, where limestone towers rise from mangrove channels, and Phang Nga Bay delivers the kind of views that make you glad you came all this way. Then it’s inland to Khao Sok National Park for rainforest, emerald water, and a floating stay on Cheow Lan Lake, before finishing on Khao Lak’s long, easy beaches, with the Similan and Surin Islands within reach for standout snorkelling trips. It’s a brilliant route if you want the drama of Thailand’s scenery without hopping between airports.

Days 1–2

Nangshe

Arrive in Phuket and head to Beyond Skywalk Nangshi, a showstopper start in Phang Nga. This is the place for huge views across Phang Nga Bay, with limestone islands scattered across the water and Samet Nangshe Mountain rising behind it. The 180-metre glass skywalk sits high above the Andaman Sea, so your first proper holiday moment isn’t exactly shy. For the best start, we’d recommend a Seaview Tent, which gives you that fun mix of outdoorsy feel and comfort without asking you to wrestle with tent pegs.

Day 3

Khao Sok National Park

Travel by private transfer to Cheow Lan Lake Pier, then continue by long-tail boat to 360 Issara Floating Resort. The journey is part of the fun here: road, pier, boat, then suddenly you’re surrounded by emerald water, jungle, and limestone cliffs. This is one of Thailand’s most extraordinary landscapes, and staying on the lake means you see it at the best times of day, especially when the morning mist lifts. The resort has floating cabins with air conditioning, which is worth knowing because “remote lake stay” sounds far more rustic than this actually feels. Days can include kayaking, wild swimming, guided jungle walks, wildlife spotting, and Thai dining on the lake. Upgrade to a villa if you want a little more space and comfort, but the real star here is the location. You’re not near the view. You’re in it.

Day 4

Khao Sok to Khao Lak via Kao Thep Pitak Community Village

Today, the journey earns its keep. Rather than heading straight to the beach, we’ll take you from Khao Sok to Khao Lak via Kao Thep Pitak Community Village, a local community backed by sustainable tourism initiatives. It breaks up the route and gives you something far more memorable than a straightforward transfer. You’ll see the area around the suspension bridge and the heart-shaped mountain, glide along the river on a bamboo raft, and enjoy lunch at a local homestay. There’s also a hands-on look at farming and traditional crafts, led by community artisans. It’s a gentle, grounded experience that helps you understand daily life in southern Thailand, and your visit supports local families and traditions. Then it’s on to Khao Lak, arriving in the early evening.

Days 5–11

Khao Lak

Khao Lak is a string of low-key beach areas, small towns, local restaurants, and long stretches of sand, with national parks and island trips within easy reach. This is where you can make the trip as active or as lazy as you like. Add Takuapa’s Hidden Heritage for old-town charm and local stories, take a bamboo rafting and waterfall trek for a classic Khao Lak nature day, or head out on a cruise to the Surin or Similan Islands for snorkelling and proper blue-water drama. There’s also a Phi Phi cruise from Khao Lak, with the same big-name scenery. Or keep a day beautifully empty.
