The stays

Two countries, two waterfront cities, two completely different vibes; we’ve bolted on stays in Buenos Aires and Rio de Janeiro before and after your Antarctic cruise. Go from the sultry tango halls and the eclectic and colourful barrios in the Argentinian capital to the celebratory samba circles and historic neighbourhoods in Rio.

The inclusions

You can throw on your branded expedition parka and day pack and step on to the Zodiacs for your included tours and landings; sit down to some of the best fine dining at sea when and where you want; share your best shots with friends and family back home on the Starlink Wi-Fi; and toast to your adventure with premium spirits and fine wines. It’s all in.

Seventh heaven

No Antarctica voyage is the same. Ice shifts, weather changes and wildlife is forever on the move; the ship’s every move is dictated by nature. You’ll spend five full days with no fixed itinerary – the Expedition Team will take the metaphorical wheel and put together Zodiac cruises and landings so you can step foot on the ‘seventh continent’.

The wild side

Remote, pristine and nutrient rich: the waters surrounding the Antarctic Peninsula are a haven for marine life. As with all wildlife adventures, sightings are never guaranteed, but penguin, seal and whale sightings are common (for more of the latter, plan your trip for February or March). The on-board team will know where the best sites are – you’re in good hands.

Days 1-3

Buenos Aires

What’s new, Buenos Aires? The city ever associated with Eva Perón is a mix of European-style splendour and Latin American flair.

Day 4

Ushuaia

Fly down to Ushuaia, a contender for the world’s southern-most city. You’ll board your ship down at the harbour and set sail in the evening.

Days 5-6

Drake Passage

The next two days will be spent crossing the famed Drake Passage. Get to know the ship and its team, and find out what’s to come in the days ahead in the Discovery Centre.

Days 7-11

Antarctica Experience

You’ve got five whole days ahead of supremely scenic cruising around the South Shetland Islands and the Antarctic Peninsula. Hear from the Expedition team as they tell you how each day will unfold and head out on cruises, nature walks or cultural encounters. Expect a few Seabourn surprises along the way and even brave a polar plunge (but check with your doctor first) – it’s cold water ‘swimming’ in the extreme.

Days 12-13

Drake Passage

Time to head back across the Drake Passage, the stretch of Southern Ocean between Antarctica and South America. Perhaps use the time to try out the spa, sift through your hundreds of images or just drink, dine and relax.

Day 14

Ushuaia

The ship arrives back into Ushuaia, a town surround by the rugged natural landscapes of Tierra del Fuego National Park and the Beagle Channel.

Days 15-18

Rio de Janeiro

Start the journey north to Rio de Janeiro, flying back through Buenos Aires. You’ll have a few days to soak up the vibes of the ‘marvellous city’, ascending to the top of mountains, seeing and being seen on in beachfront barrios and feeling the energetic beat of the samba.
