Pingüino de Humboldt National Reserve is just off mainland Chile and is home to a breeding site for the Humboldt penguin, one of the few ‘warm-weather’ species. But it’s not just the penguins – this three-island reserve and its surrounding waters are a biodiverse dream.

There are a couple of options once you’ve stepped off the Scenic Eclipse, both of which start with a night in coastal, cool and colourful Valparaiso. You could hop over to the other side of South America and explore either the Argentinian capital of Buenos Aires or the oceanfront Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro. Either way, there’s no need to stop the party just yet.
