Why we love Grand Hotel Des Iles Borromees & Spa

  • Grand Hotel Des Iles Borromees has been welcoming guests including royalty, dignatories and celebrities for over 160 years.

  • The grandest hotel on Lake Maggiore, Grand Hotel Des Iles Borromees has retained many of its original architectural features that have been impressively restored.

  • The extensive landscaped gardens were created in 1863 by Antonio Polli. Some of the original trees are still standing proud amongst the ornate flower beds and waterlily-filled ponds.

  • Ernest Hemingway was a former guest and mentions the hotel, bar and its martini in his classic novel, A Farewell to Arms.
