A palace-style retreat with private-pool villas, indoor and outdoor pools, and Atlas Mountain views.
The first few minutes are all about the architecture. A soaring cedar ceiling opens onto a pale marble courtyard edged with black-and-white zellige, carved plasterwork, and keyhole arches. Beyond it, a long waterway runs between cypress trees towards the Atlas Mountains.
Move out into the grounds and the scale starts to feel more relaxed. Villas sit among 28 acres of citrus orchards and centuries-old olive trees, with private gardens and pools giving you plenty of space of your own. The medina is around 25 minutes away by car, so coming back here after a day in Marrakech feels like a complete change of pace.
Why we love The Oberoi, Marrakech
-
More than 200 Moroccan artisans worked on the hotel, and the craftsmanship is everywhere, from carved cedar and plasterwork to zellige and towering arches.
-
Rivayat turns dinner into an occasion, with Indian cooking mentored by Michelin-starred chef Rohit Ghai and a courtyard inspired by Marrakech’s Ben Youssef Medersa.
-
The spa brings Moroccan and Indian traditions together. Hammam rituals* use black soap, green clay, and Atlas verbena, while Oberoi’s signature Kasa bowl massage* draws on Ayurvedic practice.
-
The complimentary Kids’ Club welcomes children aged four to 12 throughout the year, with activities including cooking, art, and treasure hunts.
Facilities
Dining moves between locally sourced Mediterranean and international dishes, refined Indian cooking, and lighter food beside the pool. Produce from the hotel’s kitchen garden appears across the menus, while terraces and courtyards make the surroundings as much a part of meals as the food.
Tamimt
Breakfast and all-day dining take place beneath high arches and chandeliers or outside on the terrace. There’s an open kitchen indoors, but we’d take an outdoor table when the weather cooperates, with views along the gardens towards the Atlas. The menu brings together Mediterranean, Indian, and international dishes.
Rivayat
The restaurant to plan an evening around. Indoors, there are velvet chairs, elaborate lighting, and monochrome zellige. Outside, tables sit around the Ben Youssef-inspired courtyard, which becomes more atmospheric after dark. Michelin-starred chef Rohit Ghai mentors the menu of refined Indian cooking, and there’s a thali lunch at weekends.
Azur
Lunch here feels properly resort-like. The terrace overlooks the 30-metre pool, grand canal, olive and citrus trees, and the mountains beyond, while indoors there’s a frescoed domed ceiling. The menu keeps things lighter with salads, snacks, and simple daytime dishes.
Vue
A lovely place to start the evening. Candlelight and a glowing fireplace give the inside a cosy feel after dark, while the terrace opens onto the gardens and Atlas Mountains. The drinks list runs from Champagne and single malts to classic and signature cocktails.

You cross the water to reach the the 2,000m² spa, surrounded by a lake within the orchards, before disappearing into private treatment rooms and hammams. Moroccan rituals* use heat, fragrant steam, black soap, green clay, and Atlas verbena, while Oberoi’s Indian roots come through in treatments such as its warm Kasa-bowl massage*. There’s a 20-metre heated indoor pool, plus the 30-metre outdoor pool, sunrise yoga overlooking the water, tennis Courts*, padel* and pickleball courts*, and also a 24-hour fitness center.
This is much easier with children than the palace-like first impression suggests. The complimentary Kids’ Club is for children aged four to 12 and runs from 9am to 12.30pm, then 1.30pm to 6pm, with cooking, crafts, treasure hunts, and play-based activities. That one-hour lunchtime gap is useful to know before you book a long spa treatment or make adult-only plans.
And then there are Sugar and Brownie. The two rescue donkeys are a wonderfully low-key counterpoint to all that marble and zellige.
