Game drives explore the wildlife rich Maasai Mara National Reserve. From July to October, the Annual Great Migration arrives and thousands of wildebeest and zebra traverse the Mara with plenty of predators in pursuit. Learn about the Maasai culture with a visit to a nearby village.

Governors’ Balloon Safaris offers the best flight path in the Maasai Mara and the launch site is only twenty minutes from Governors’ Camp. Drift across the Mara River as the sun rises and enjoy a full breakfast with a glass of bubbles on the plains upon landing.

Governors’ Camp has been awarded GOLD Eco Rating from Eco–Tourism Kenya. It recognises that local people must benefit directly from tourism, resulting in a 50 year long commitment to local communities delivering genuine social and conservation results. A zero waste policy means that all of the camp’s waste is sorted and separated then processed for recycling where possible. The camp is run on solar and heat pumps for hot water. 

Governors’ funding for local primary schools includes providing uniforms and paying teachers’ salaries. They have also helped fund construction of classrooms, libraries, bore holes, water towers and tanks, solar power and water purification facilities in local schools. They have helped build a Health Centre at Mara Rianda for their Maasai community neighbours. Governors’ actively re-plants an average of 45 native trees a month to help replace those lost to natural causes such as elephant grazing.

Children of all ages are welcome at Governors’ Camp, and family tents can accommodate two adults and three children. Cots, high chairs, children’s meals and babysitting can all be arranged. Young explorers can join the exclusive Governors’ Cub Club, where safari adventures begin from the moment they arrive. Each child receives a fun welcome pack featuring a Governors’ Cub Club cap, reusable water bottle, animal checklist and colouring pencils made from recycled newspaper. With plenty of opportunities to learn about the Maasai Mara’s incredible wildlife and track animals with an expert guide, it’s a memorable safari experience for the whole family.
