Fine without being brilliant
I enjoyed our visit for a week to the Almyra. The adjoining rooms we had meant we could keep an eye on the kids but also have our own space. The kids club was pretty good. However, the pools were pretty anodyne and the lifeguard stopped the kids from jumping in which felt like a prohibition on fun. I was very surprised that having left the kids in the care of a kids club member while they watched a film in the TV room we found the kids playing on the computer in reception when we checked on them. Slightly worrying. The food in the buffet was fine without being great and the kids choices were limited unless they ate the adult’s food. They had excellent bike storage which I used for the bike I hired. The porters were good guys. We previously went to Lopsan Baobab in Gran Canaria and other than the adjoining rooms I thought that was far better than the Almyra.
Very nice hotel with Ocean access and beautiful sea views
I booked a room at this hotel at the end of September 2019 using Marriott points. The room was not a sea view, but I was upgraded to a sea view because I am a Titanium Elite member of Bonvoy. The Hotel grounds and sea views are gorgeous. The pools and their surrounds look fairly new. The room I had was dated but very nice. It was a simple room with a bed, bathroom and two chairs for lounging; there was no balcony, but I would open to sliding glass doors. The pool directly below my room was for adults-only I believe but I did not ask about that; I just noticed there were no children in the pool. Although there was a young teen one afternoon. My room included breakfasts and those were fairly sumptuous meals with the usual fresh juices, eggs, breads, cheeses, meats, sweets, coffee and espresso. I ate most of my meals at restaurants off property and so cannot comment on the dinners on offer. Parking was free and easy at the front of the hotel, and it was a short walking distance to very good restaurants. The hotel is fairly close to the ruins, especially the archaeological park with mosaics. The Tombs of the Kings is not a short walk but worth the trip. The hotel also has a spa in a building separate from the bedrooms. I did not visit the spa.
Total rest and relaxation! Family time!
We have just returned from a wonderful week in the Alymra, after a hectic couple of months we needed to escape the merry go round of life and have a break. The Almyra ticked every box, great food, great service, stunning views, amazing spa and my daughters loved the adventure company right beside the hotel. We went hiking, running, fishing, turtle watching and a couple of fantastic trips on a jet ski! Our afternoons were spent either by the pool enjoying the bar menu with delicious cocktails or relaxing by the beach. Sunset meals every night and we have returned feeling totally refreshed! We are booking to return next year! The only difference is we will book a sea view room, the garden view was fine but it will be nice to have the ocean in view every morning. Thank you to the Almyra!
Lovely hotel with amazing heated pool and just a short walk into Paphos. Perfect for families and couples alike as there is a great kids club and spa available! Really enjoyed the food and cocktails too.
Half Term .... kids Club
We stayed in the sister hotel next door but used Almyra kids club. Fantastic club, great activities and lovely staff. My six year old loved the pottery trip and the Halloween disco. In retrospect we would have been far better to have stayed here - so much more family friendly. Lovely pools and restaurants too. Highly recommend.
