SIMPLY PERFECT VACATION AT A WONDERFUL RESORT
We were set to travel to Yellowstone for a 10 day vacation. a few days before our departure, flooding and severe weather cancelled a trip that took months to organize. In 2 hours we decided on Barbados (again) and rapidly booked air travel and hotel. Colony Club looked like a good location, the grounds appeared lush and tropical and the resort was on calm Caribbean Sea beaches west of the island. Quick pivot and onto Barbados. We arrived by taxi and welcomes by Ian at the portico entrance. What a gentleman. We saw Ian often and he was always prepared with answers to our questions about local cuisine and helpful tips. Keisha at the front desk was wonderful. Check-in was quick and professional with a warm welcome from Keisha and her staff. Our room was a 3rd floor ocean view room. The bed was vey comfortable and we slept very soundly. Our days were filled with a schedule of doing nothing but enjoying the beach, the pool, the swim up bar, cocktails, dinner and repeat. The resort had nightly poolside music. The steel drum calypso band on Sunday afternoon was the best. Now let me opine on the best part of this resort-its people. On our first day we met Sandy at the pool bar. My gosh she was absolutely engaging, warm, kind and very attentive. Ryan, another pool bar bartender was professional and engaging, but could really take a joke and some slight ribbing from his American guests (did you put any alcohol in this drink? I think you need to go back to bartending school..LOL). He was great. Our room attendant was Shauna. I had left $20 on the bed as a tip for great service. When I got back to my room at 4:00, the room had been cleaned immaculately, as it was every day, and the $20 was left on the bed. WOW...she was not sure it was for her and left it behind. What honesty. I called housekeeping and asked them to send Shauna to our room. She arrived with her manager and I complimented her on her honesty and integrity..but the $20 was for her. Now to the best part of our vacation.....Cory from the Rum Vault. This guy was always around. I don't know what his job was, but I had the sense he was a food and beverage manager. He engaged with all the staff and checked on things. He also engaged the guests BY NAME. He was never in a rush and was polite, professional, warm and entertaining. The man has a wealth of knowledge and was truly one of the most seasoned experts on guest services I have ever encountered. We booked a night in the Rum Vault with a tapas menu and Cory made rum cocktails to accompany the 6 course meal. What an experience. Cory knows Rum, Barbados and Colony Club. I was never more impressed by anyone in the travel industry. Lastly, the website for this hotel/resort does not do it justice. It is far more lovely than any photo could reveal. The lush tropical gardens, the location, the water taxi that takes you to the sister resorts on the west coast, the beach and the pools were magnificent. We will be back. This hotel/resort is a gem. My only wish is that the Marriott goliath does not destroy its local charm. Excellent vacation.
Beautiful resort with wonderful and helpful staff
We spent wonderful 10 days at the Colony Club in June 2022. Prior to arriving we were a little bit nervous seeing the unfavourable reviews, but upon arrival all fears were put to rest. We were welcomed by the always joyful and helpful Latonya who welcomed us with the hotels signature rum punch. Latonya is a credit to the hotel and was always ready to assist us and make our stay memorable. We would also like to thank Anique as well in helping arrange our activities and in getting a sea view seat at Tides! The rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable and we loved the convenience of the locations. The hotel never felt crowded and we often felt as if we had the place/pool to ourselves. Plenty of sun loungers and pools so need to fight to reserve at early hours! We also greatly enjoyed the complimentary water sports offered to guests and really appreciated how friendly and welcoming the water sports staff were as they were one of the many highlights of our stay! Breakfast was good but the options were somewhat limited compared to other hotels we’ve frequented in the past. However, the food offered was freshly prepared, delicious, and the omelette station was a hit for our family. Like many others we greatly enjoyed watching the sunset over the beach bar and the happy hour drinks although we feel that service was sometimes slow and it was often quicker to go to the bar and order ourselves. We also loved the activities offered by the hotel, such as the garden tour, fish feeding, organic cooking tour and the rum tasting session led by knowledgeable Corey! Overall, we loved our stay and would like to thank everyone from the bottom of our hearts for everything they did and for making our holiday so memorable. We would love to visit again and would recommend the hotel to all our friends and family.
Amazing location but really being let down by some senior members of staff.
As beautiful location as in the pictures however sunset deck completely ruined by a few rude members of senior staff. Totally put us off eating/ having drinks there to watch the sunset which was sad as it was one of the things that attracted me to book this hotel. A shame as most other members of staff especially the water sports and spa staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful.
10 Nights of Pure Bliss
We had an absolutely brilliant time at this hotel. Right from the moment we arrived up until the time we departed it was just awesome. The location is brilliant, the food delicious and the staff super friendly. In fact their near constant laughing was infectious. One of the very few hotels that we'd happily revisit.
Having stayed in Barbados ten times The Colony Club is certainly the very best place to stay. It’s our third stay here and it has once again exceeded our expectations. Our room is spacious really nice and we were very kindly upgraded to a room we’ve had before. The staff are welcoming and nothing is too much trouble for them. It’s good to see Sandra is still here running the sunset deck. The whole place has great ambience and is well looked including the beautiful flowers and vegetation and it’s right on the beach. Heaven in Barbados!
