Kangaroo Island 2 nights
For this tour you can fly in and out of Adelaide, or fly in to Adelaide and return to Cape Jervis by cruise. There are also options for meeting on Kangaroo Island if you're self-driving.
Day 1: A Kangaroo Island Wilderness Tours vehicle will pick you up from your hotel for the transfer to Adelaide airport, where you'll board your flight to Kingscote. Meet your guide on arrival and start your three-day Kangaroo Island 4WD tour. Head to Seal Bay Conservation Park and learn how the Australian sealion survives the Southern Ocean. Walk among the colony of resting bulls, cows and pups on the beach. From the South Coast cross the rural areas of the middle of the Island via the Parndana Wildlife Park – it was set up as an animal refuge and is home to colourful birds, koalas and of course kangaroos. Enjoy a gourmet picnic with South Australian beer and wine for lunch. The north coast beaches of Snellings and Stokes Bay are perfect for a leisurely stroll; if the weather allows, go for a swim in the beautiful clear water. Later in the day before returning to your hotel, go for a nature walk through Lathami Conservation Park and see kangaroos, wallabies, the elusive echidna and the rare Glossy Black Cockatoo. Day 2: Arrive at Rocky River, headquarters of the Flinders Chase National Park to see wildlife including kangaroos and Cape Barren geese. Continue to Admirals Arch, an ancient limestone formation close to the ocean which is home to an active colony of New Zealand fur seals. Head to Remarkable Rocks to see spectacular granite carved by the elements. Look out for wildlife on a short bush walk before a traditional BBQ lunch with South Australian beer and local wines in a bush setting. After lunch head for Koala Avenue just outside the Park then into Grassdale, part of the Kelly Hill Conservation Park which has a large mob of Kangaroos. Day 3: Touring today may include Emu Ridge Eucalyptus and Kangaroo Island Spirits boutique Distillery, Cliffords Honey Farm, Pennington Bay which is a popular surfing beach with breathtaking scenery of the south eastern coastal area of the island, Prospect Hill, Chapman River and nearby winery, Cape Willoughby - the oldest lighthouse in South Australia, and visit a local winery and art gallery. Enjoy a picnic lunch under the Paper Bark trees that line the Chapman River. At the end of your tour, you will take a shuttle coach to Penneshaw, board the Sealink Ferry for the transfer from Kangaroo Island to Cape Jervis and then connect with a coach transfer to Adelaide Central Bus Station.
