Returned for our 12 th year-obviously a little different this year but felt very safe here. masks worn by all staff even those working on the beach. Quite quiet which meant not all restaurants open but still had a choice. Got some seaweed blown in due to hurricane and global warming but the guys on the beach did their utmost to clear it each day. Unfortunately not clear to snorkle but not resorts fault! A lot of staff had changed from the ones we knew but Kersha still doing a grand job and very welcoming. Dane has taken over duties on the beach drinks cart and is excellent-learnt our drinks quickly and so cheerful. Other notable staff were Kayla, Icember, Andre and of course Cora.
Thank you so much for all your hard work keeping us happy and fed! Kyra you were lovely and the young guy working with you on the last day of our holiday at the grill/Dicksider lunchtime (13 th October)! The food was always lovely and we appreciate your hard work. Xx
Watch out for the hidden extras what’s not advertised!
It states on their website updated for Covid that Covid tests are $69 dollars- in fact they are €250! Each The usual government tourist tax $5 per person after the age of 6. Mandatory resort fee $24 per unit. It boats they have 6 restaurants but most are closed and only open certain nights! Rainbow open for breakfast (take your own coffee from the coffee shop) yuk! closed lunch open 3 evening you have to book those, very limited no’s even though hotel was only half full! Coco not open at all Docksider opens a salad bar for lunch no drinks Evening 5 out of 7 buffet serving warm not hot food not enough waiting on so you wait for drinks, as per all restaurants these are served in very small glasses so.piccolo not all inclusive open 2 evening. Eleven open all but Friday evening, pizza pasta fried chicken so fast food Beach grill 10-6 daily serves all kind of junk food. That’s if you want to wait for table wait for a drink wait for your food, it should be just a snack point for the beach but it’s crammed no social distancing going on here and menus are not wiped and staff do not wear gloves!! Coffee shop, open 24 hours and it’s the best part of the whole place. Nice selection of tea and specialty coffee and always something to satisfy a sweet tooth. Staff, friendly polite, some are miserable and some are rude! They are fazing out paper maps and going digital great… email me one! Only they are not ready yet so I had to argue to get a map from a manager. The hotel restaurant and bars are sporadical, so you need a map. Guests won’t be returning, the additional non advertised fees, the cost of the Covid test you need to fly home the reduced restaurant warm food tired hotel attitude of management was repeated by so many guests I spoke to. No WiFi in the gym or some other areas oh and the roaming charges are high so switch it off before you land if you don’t want a hefty bill. I was looking forward to some lovely fresh fish- not on menu, but if you like junk food and not piping hot this place is for you. Everything is just below the medium bar- The owners/ managers of this Hotel need to realise this is not good enough for a 4 * Hotel. I will end on a positive, it rained most days so I didn’t miss home 🤣
It could have been so much better
I should start with saying it's a really lovely resort and the staff are really friendly, who try their best, however the venue is managed badly which caused some disappointment. This is in spite of the owner being seen nearly daily on the resort. The island is a lush green beautiful island. As the first holiday post covid it was a great place to visit, being on the green list for double vaccinated UK travellers. 31 degrees daily with only an occasional shower. But there were niggling problems with the hotel that just took the edge off it being an amazing holiday. To start with on arrival, our twin rom request had been over looked, so we only had a king. A twin was found about an hour later, however the view wasn't as good so we stayed put. The room service was a real let down. even though the head of customer service came to the room and assured us there'd be no further issues, there always were. On various days of having the room serviced, one day, the coffee was missed being replenished. One day the toiletries were not replaced. Another time the second sheet we had requested daily was again removed (despite assurances it wouldn't be) Also, one has to question, why put the signs up to say they're trying to be green and if towels are hung they'll not be changed and detergent saved, yet they are replaced every time regardless? You receive 2 bottles of water on arrival in the room, but that's it! Any others need to be purchased from the shop. The tap water is drinkable, but there's no other drinks in the room fridge alcoholic or soft drinks, which for an all inclusive resort is very poor. The air conditioning broke and started leaking down the wall onto a plug socket. The room key stopped working 4 times before they eventually realised and changed the battery in the lock mechanism. The 6 restaurants weren't open (however the hotel was only at about 30% occupancy possibly due to covid) so this was understandable. What was unforgivable however was Wednesday was advertised as BBQ night. On the screens advertising they do do a BBQ night with people actually cooking on a BBQ. However we got the usual buffet service with chicken, ribs, hot dogs and burgers. If something can't be done (due to covid) don't advertise it. As the you won't disappoint people. Having stayed on island resorts before, the '' seafood'' night did not compare to anything I've experienced before in Goa, Sri Lanker, Mauritius. The breakfast was always good. But the Rainbow Room when being served as an 'A la carte' the staff were doing their best, but were running round sweating, due to the fact there just weren't enough of them. Also my companion and I both said, the ambiance was just wrong on so many occasions. Why when having a supposedly relaxing meal in the evening was the music 'Todd Terry' banging house? What's wrong with a couple of tea lights on the tables (both inside and out) as it's very dark on the patio. The beaches are lovely, and the resort very private (if a bit remote) as there's nothing nearby on the island. Keep in mind, it's not the beautiful turquoise waters of the Caribbean sea, it's the Atlantic. It's warm and lovely, but nothing to snorkel for! They say that all beaches are public on the island, but with the gates, security, sign in and temperature checks, there were never any non residents on the beach, which was a bit disturbing. As we would wonder how legal this is? I don't know if the seaweed people mention is seasonal. But there was a little bit on the bay side beach which does kick up an awful smell but only on a couple of days. On the more wild Atlantic beach side there were heavy deposits of weed. However the grounds keepers were there every day collecting it up onto the tractor and were doing the best they could. though you can't blame the hotel for nature. But on the odd day, there was an odd (unpleasant) ''gone off eggs'' smell about the place.
Birthday Celebration 🎊🎉💃🏻
My Fiance and I stayed for one night. I surprised him for his 🎊birthday🎉 and it was amazing ....Best stay ever....the staff was friendly and nice. The check-in was very fast and Ozzy(not sure if it's spelt right) took us to our room. The food was amazing. We went to 11/eleven restaurant and we had a good time. Will definitely be coming back next year for a longer stay♥️♥️!!!!
