Constance Lemuria is an idyllic hideaway providing an escape from the stress of modern life. Its open-plan design, along with its unobtrusive architecture and traditional thatched roofs, allows the resort to melt into the surrounding foliage. From a flawless 18-hole championship golf course to a tranquil spa, you can relax and enjoy the wide range of facilities that this elegant retreat has to offer. The hotel has recently undergone an extensive refurbishment, freshening up all of the main areas and suites with a colourful new look and feel. World-class dining includes barefoot lunches at the understated Takamaka beach restaurant, where the chef prepares sushi with a Seychellois twist; fresh Creole-style seafood at The Nest, set out on the peninsula; and modern Mediterranean flavours at Diva, where there’s a new destination dining wine cellar. Most of the restaurants have an accompanying bar. We love The Nest bar for its views over Grande Anse and Petite Anse Kerlan beaches and the chilled-out Huna bar with its creative cocktail list. The chic suites and villas each feature all the mod-cons you’d expect from a world-class hotel. You’ll also enjoy an additional al fresco dining area, private pool and the option of a private chef or barbecue in the villas – ideal for families, groups or those looking to experience the epitome of luxury.
Utilising natural stone and dark wood, the main building of Coco De Mer blends with its beautifully rugged surroundings, giving the hotel a hideaway feel. Set on the promontory away from the main hotel, the exclusive Black Parrot Suites come complete with a private lounge, bar and pool – perfect if you’re looking for a luxurious escape. Following a renovation in 2018, the hotel has a fresh new look and feel. Complete with a rim flow infinity pool and generous sun deck, a great new addition to the hotel includes the romantic ocean jetty – one of the best places to see a breathtaking Seychelles sunset. The hotel offers a great selection of cuisine, from delicious international fare to traditional Seychellois delights. Here you’ll find an all-day dining venue, à la carte grill, and the welcoming Mango Bar which specialises in colourful cocktails. The Waterfront Spa offers panoramic views of the ocean where you can indulge in some signature treatments as you breathe in the enticing aroma of orange and cinnamon. With just 40 rooms, the boutique Coco de Mer is an intimate retreat of relaxation. Renovated Standard Rooms overlook the gardens while the Superior Rooms are set just back from the beach with great ocean views. The 12 Black Parrot Junior Suites are located on an outcrop, offering more exclusivity and outstanding views across the water.
On Silhouette – the Seychelles’ third biggest island – sits Hilton Seychelles Labriz Resort & Spa. Set on a beach within a designated national marine park and just around the corner from the historic village of La Passe, whose inhabitants are involved in the conservation of the island and its waters, the resort offers surrounds in one of the richest biodiversity hotspots in the Indian Ocean. Here, you can spot turtles laying their eggs on the sands near the hotel. If you like to explore, the island offers some fantastic hiking. Organised by the hotel, you can experience some breathtaking landscapes on trips including Anse Mondon, where you’ll pass Belle Vue and enjoy panoramic sea views, before arriving in a secluded cove in the north of the island. You can then hop aboard a boat for a journey back to the hotel to enjoy the view from a different perspective. There are two all-day-dining restaurants and five dinner restaurants, meaning your idyllic island experience includes some of the best food found in the Seychelles. There is a mix of international and speciality restaurants, as well as a great bar. The spa is a feature not to be missed. Surrounded by the jungle and incorporated into the cliff, its stilted treatment rooms immerse you in nature and offer magical views. The hotel’s spacious, comfortable and chic villas are scattered throughout the resort. Choose between a Garden Villa or a Beachfront Villa, or upgrade to a private Deluxe Beachfront Villa for a private pool and dining pavilion. If you're after some peace and quiet, the spacious Sanctuary Pool Villas offer unparalleled privacy on the hillside.
With acres of space, Constance Ephélia is a beautiful haven surrounded by abundant greenery, offering a sense of privacy and comfortable seclusion. Created to blend seamlessly with its natural setting, the hotel overlooks two stunning beaches. The first sits to the front of the main building and the Junior Suites, while the other is found on the opposite side, overlooked by the Senior Suites and Villas. When it comes to facilities, Constance Ephélia seemingly has it all. From a vast selection of restaurants, bars and high-end boutiques, to a serene spa, fun kids’ club and watersports centre, the range of activities on offer makes this the perfect escape for families. The U Spa by Constance is a real highlight. Here, the hydrotherapy pool, reflexology walkway and calming yoga pavillion allow you to unwind and embark on a journey of the senses. All of the suites and villas are elegant, spacious and come with all the conveniences you’d expect including free Wi-Fi and an Apple Mac mini. The Junior Suites are just steps from the beach and are conveniently located by the main reception and shared pools. On the north side, near Port Launay National Marine Park, are the Family Villas, Senior Suites and all other Villas. Drinking in views of the Marine Park, couples and honeymooners will love the One-and-Two Bedroom Hillside Villas – seriously stylish and romantic escapes with in-villa dining and private infinity pools.
If you are looking for a relaxing break in a romantic setting, then this welcoming resort is ideal. Spend a couple of nights on the tiny picturesque island of La Digue, combined with one of the larger islands, such as Mahé or Praslin to get a real feel of the Seychelles. The resort’s architectural style – plenty of warm wood, stone and thatch – reflects the natural beauty of the island which is studded with large pink granite rocks. The zen-style décor, seamless service and comfortable open-air areas create a soothing home-away-from-home. The resort is set in lush vegetation just steps from a beautiful white-sand beach and the offshore coral reef offers superb snorkelling. The stunning infinity pool overlooks the bay and the sleek sundeck is the perfect spot for admiring the sunset over the ocean and the mountains beyond. The all-day dining area is home to two restaurants that offer Mediterranean and Creole dishes. Head to Le Combava on the roof terrace for à la carte dining with an emphasis on seafood. Tuck into the catch-of-the-day and watch the sun set over the ocean from the deck at Santosha which also offers a buffet breakfast, live cooking station and international and Creole dishes. Sip cocktails in the elegant open-air lounge bar overlooking the lagoon, or at the casual pool bar. The treehouse-style villas are tucked away in the tropical gardens and scattered up the hillside. Buggies are available to whisk you up to the hillside rooms and the higher up you go, the more impressive the views are. Garden Villas are set at the bottom of the hillside closer to the facilities while the Villa de Charme are set on the slope of the hill and feature an outside bathroom.
Jungle meets sea on the picturesque peninsula at the northern tip of Mahé. It's here, overlooking Beau Vallon bay, that you’ll find Hilton Seychelles Northolme Resort & Spa. A cluster of thatched villas tumbles down the hillside to the jade-coloured waters below, framed by huge granite boulders and tropical foliage – it’s easy to see why this spot was a favoured haunt of James Bond author Ian Fleming. Seychellois architecture influences the design of the rooms – all glossy wood and glass-panel French doors – accented with original artwork and bold pops of lime green or cherry red. The room to book is the Grand Ocean View Pool Villa for your own private infinity pool overlooking the Indian Ocean and Silhouette Island – perfect for honeymooners. This view also provides a postcard-perfect backdrop to the spa, infinity pool and yoga pavilion. But perhaps the best spot to take in the postcard-pretty water views is the Lower Deck Gin Bar; watch the sun go out in a fiery blaze, cocktail in hand. You’re in a great location for exploring Mahé. Gawk at the coco de mer palms in Victoria Botanical Gardens or browse the local Creole handicrafts at the Domaine de Val des Prés. Island-hopping is the best way to discover the jewels of the archipelago; don’t miss the beach-dotted coastline of Eden Island and the giant tortoises roaming Moyenne Island.
Imagine skimming across the water in a speedboat to a remote island, ringed by a turquoise lagoon. Rustic bungalows cling to forested hillsides, swimming pools glisten invitingly through the jungle. You’re at Cerf Island, a tiny emerald speck cast adrift in the Indian Ocean, two miles east of Mahé. The drum beats to a slower pace here. Wake to leisurely breakfasts overlooking the lagoon, then snorkel among butterfly fish and starfish in the Sainte Anne Marine Park. Cool off in the infinity pool and perhaps squeeze in a spa treatment before dinner, where you can feast on catch of the day overlooking the shimmering lagoon. Be sure to save enough time to have a beach day and simply sink your toes in the flour-soft swathes of dazzling white sand – with nothing more pressing to think about than which cocktail to have brought direct to your towel.
Opened in July 2021, Mango House is the epitome of modern luxury, which recognises that the greatest indulgences of all can be as simple as spending time with loved ones in beautiful, restful surroundings. It would be hard, in fact, to improve on the setting: on the scenic curve of Anse aux Poules Bleues, a sheltered bay with shallow clear waters and an alluring sweep of pale sand. The house at its heart was once the family property of a celebrated Italian photographer, and that chic-home-from-home sensation is in evidence throughout the resort. So, too, is the sense of place, with a Seychellois flavour to everything from the irresistible food to the thoughtful and discreet service. Relaxation and pampering are the order of every day at Mango House. At the small wellness sanctuary the two treatment rooms overlook the sea, making the personalised therapies – featuring locally handmade products – even more restorative. There’s a choice of three inviting pool areas, all with ocean vistas as standard, so guests can find the perfect corner in which to snooze, read or be more social. And, naturally, there’s the beautiful bay itself, teeming with marine life: snorkelers will be in their element, while the resort’s canoes and kayaks offer guests the chance to explore further. Leisurely meals are as much part of a memorable holiday experience as anything, and Mango House’s five restaurants and bars don’t disappoint, with everything from a toes-in-the-sand pop-up barbecue to grown-up Japanese dining. All 41 rooms, suites and villas, cleverly arranged around the richly scented tropical gardens, are spacious and immaculately designed, with the sea visible from every balcony and terrace. The décor is stylishly neutral – think white walls, neutral fabrics and blond wood – providing an unobtrusive backdrop to leisurely days. With 10 room types, everyone from couples and young families to larger groups will be able to tailor their accommodation to their precise needs. The King Premium Rooms, for instance, are ideal for two, and have a balcony from which to admire the sunset. If a private pool is a must, opt for the beachfront One Bedroom Bay House Suite with Plunge Pool, which also has an outdoor dining area and a large sofabed in the living room, or the Three Bedroom Bay House with Plunge Pool or Three Bedroom Ocean House with Pool with their generous indoor and outdoor spaces.
As you make your way up the sweeping drive and the grand entrance catches your eye, you can tell you’re in for an incredible experience. Go beyond the entrance and see the jaw-dropping Beau Vallon beach, with its backdrop of those verdant greens only possible in the tropics, and you’ll know you have made a great choice for some proper Seychelles-style relaxation. And with one of the best spas in the country – the oh-so peaceful Sesel Spa – on site and free yoga sessions four times a week, there’s little choice but to slow the pace down to almost a standstill. There is the opportunity to up the ante if staying still isn’t quite you. Beau Vallon beach is an exceptional spot for watersports and this is one of the only places in Seychelles where you can swim and snorkel all year round – there’s a reef just 50 metres from the water’s edge. You can join a snorkelling tour three times a week if you want a bit of guidance about what’s what, but there’s nothing to stop you heading out on your own. To fuel both your adventures and your down time, there’s a surprisingly good choice of restaurants for a smaller resort like STORY. The buffet restaurant, Vascos, is wonderfully breezy open-air venue for fresh buffet dishes but our personal favourite is the highly rated Seyshima. It’s set under a thatched roof out on the lagoon and the top table here is undoubtably the teppanyaki grill. STORY Seychelles has a strong focus on sustainability which can be seen around the resort and through on-going projects to protect the environment for future generations. As well as aiming to be single-use plastic free, they take part in a coral restoration scheme, carry out regular beach cleans, have a botanical garden and a water bottling plant and use local products and produce wherever possible. Young guests can even get involved thanks to conservation-themed activities organised at the kids’ club.
Raffles is a name that’s synonymous with class, style and sophistication. And Raffles Seychelles is no exception. This retreat, which is scattered over forty acres of hillside on Praslin’s north-east coast, feels miles away from anywhere but has everything you could possibly need. The spa is the stand-out spot; alongside the twelve treatment rooms where signature Raffles massages and treatments are carried out, there’s an outdoor pool, open-air yoga pavilion and sauna, Jacuzzi and experience shower (think lights, sounds, aromas and changing temperatures). We love each of the resort’s restaurants, partly due to the exceptional worldwide cuisine they offer and partly because of their unbeatable settings: indoor-outdoor Losean is just steps from the sea, Curieuse is surrounded by the verdant gardens and there are no prizes for guessing where the casual Pool Restaurant is. Praslin is the Seychelles as you’ve always imagined it: white sand beaches framed by granite boulders, backed by tropical forest and washed by gentle waves. You’ll be surrounded by natural wonders: world-famous beach, Anse Lazio, is just 10 minutes away while the rainforest-cloaked hills of UNESCO-listed Vallée de Mai is just quarter of an hour away in the other direction. And Raffles make it wonderfully easy to make the most of its setting. You can hire a car and take your own path, view it all from a birds-eye angle in a helicopter, visit nearby islands such as La Digue and the protected Curieuse (home to a handful of wild giant tortoises) or hike in the shadow of giants in forest nature reserves. One of our favourite ways to travel is by water and the resort delivers on this front too with a private catamaran for sun-kissed sailing days, stand-up paddleboards for peaceful but active adventures and a dive centre that offers trips below the waves. Even with all this earthly eye candy around, it could be a challenge to drag yourself away from your pool villa. You won’t be wanting for space whichever option you choose, the main question that need to be answered what view do I want? There are the Hillside Villas which are hidden away among the verdant foliage and perfect for complete privacy. For a more far-reaching view, go for an Ocean Pool Villa or a high-up Panoramic Pool Villa. If you don’t fancy lifting a finger, the One- and Two-Bedroom Villas come with 24-hour butler service.
