This small and welcoming beachfront hotel makes a charmingly unpretentious base for exploring picturesque La Digue.
Set in leafy gardens on a sheltered west-coast beach with views of Praslin in the distance, Le Repaire has a friendly, relaxed atmosphere that will appeal to families and couples. If you’re looking for a wealth of facilities, you won’t find them here – though there are free kayaks to use and bicycles to hire. A stay here is about lounging by the sea or one of the two small pools, delectable sundowner cocktails on the sand, and not resisting the desserts at the excellent Italian restaurant. If you want to venture further, the village centre is a short stroll away along traffic-free lanes, while two wheels will enable you to reach local highlights such as the Instagram-worthy Source d’Argent beach.

Rooms
The 18 rooms have a simple, clean-cut modern design and a warm palette of blues, reds and greens that reflects the colours of the local landscape. Standard Rooms have balconies overlooking the garden rather than the Indian Ocean. If you want to sit and gaze at the waves, you’ll need to upgrade to a Superior Sea View Room; Superior Beach Front Rooms have sea vistas and are just steps from the sand. All of them can sleep an extra child or infant, and cots are available on request. Though the facilities are the same in all the rooms, we think being able to gaze out at the sea makes the Superior Beach Front Rooms worth the little extra.

Facilities
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served in the small restaurant, which overlooks the sea and the gardens. Cocktails and other drinks are available at the beach bar during the day and in the lounge later on.
Restaurant
A menu of Italian classics, from pizzas to indulgent desserts, mingled with a handful of more locally flavoured fish dishes has helped to make this a popular place with guests and other island visitors.
A signature rum-based La Digue Sunset cocktail, sipped on the sand as the sun sinks slowly into the sea, is an experience not to be missed.
