Our Villa with sea view was superb! Great hospitality with three villa managers and a nice buggy driver at our service. We were warmly welcomed by Krishna and enjoyed our lunches and diners in three great restaurants. We spend some time at sea (glass bottom boat) and enjoyed diving and snorkeling. The golf courses are great, very different lay outs and well maintained. Only the weather could not be controlled... we had some rain showers, but in such an environment is that a site issue. Thanks to the Belle Mare team for this great experience!
We returned for the third time to this wonderful hotel and we were not disappointed. The hotel, food and facilities are outstanding but what really makes this a truly fabulous place are the staff. Everyone from housekeeping, beach waiters, restaurant staff, spa staff, golf course staff and landscaping staff are so welcoming, friendly, courteous and go out of their way to provide an absolutely outstanding service. I visited the spa five times during our stay and received a wonderful service from very professional staff. Special thanks go to spa therapists Juliana, Anisha, Priya, Jessica, Floriane and receptionist Ahelia. My husband played golf at both the Legend and Links courses. He enjoyed it so much he played six times. He particularly enjoyed the caddie service. We ate regularly at the Deer Hunter and La Spiaggia where the service and the food were outstanding. Everyone went out of their way to provide the best. Special thanks to Suraj and Sunayasi at the Deer Hunter and Emmanuel at La Spiaggia. The food at La Citronelle has certainly improved since we first came here four years ago and now is first class. The personal service provided by Sanjeev at La Citronelle was excellent. Special thanks goes to the beach/pool waiters Parvan, Kamal and Soonesh who all provided a first class professional service with a smile. Our junior sea view suite was overlooking the Serenity Pool and the ocean. It was very spacious, comfortable and spotless. The room was cleaned twice a day. All the housekeeping staff were friendly and welcoming. A very special thanks to Jashill who created a very special birthday surprise on two consecutive days for my husband. It is safe to say we enjoyed our holiday so much we will definitely be returning again. Highly recommend this hotel and of course the beautiful island of Mauritius.
A genuine 5* resort
I don’t want this post to be super long, but my Partner and I had one of THE best vacations we have ever had. Service - From checking in to the hotel to checking out, we were greeted by the lovely supervisor and the hospitality was superb. The receptionists, hospitality individuals, chefs, towel wardens and cleaners, everyone was very friendly and if you needed anything, they would be at your service within a few minutes. I think the best thing about this hotel was the service we received and it really reflected the 5* rating that this hotel has. I.e. during breakfast, my partner wanted fresh hot chapati, the chefs went out of their way to make fresh ones and would bring them directly to our table. One evening, we were really craving milkshake and we ordered room service and were pleasantly surprised that they gave it to us for free! You are even given the option of phoning concierge and asking them to bring a buggy to your room (if your room is quite far away from the reception) so you can get a lift. Especially at night, when it got slightly chilly and we were not bothered to walk! Finally, on our last day, we requested late check out and were surprised that they allowed us to keep our room until our taxi was picking us up for free, which was around 7pm!!! This was the best bit as we got the whole room to freshen up on our last day. We really appreciated all of the service we were provided. Views – The grounds of the hotel are absolutely stunning, pictures do not even do this place justice. Green and blue everywhere. The pool and beaches are stunning – the turquoise indian ocean is breath taking and there are no seaweed. As it is there winter, the water is slightly cooler but nevertheless, once you are in, it’s fine! Upgrade – we got upgraded to a seafront junior suite room, and honestly it was the best!! Clean bedsheets, clean floors, massive bathrooms with shower and bath with two sinks!! Absolutely beautiful and stunning views from the balcony. Food – this was one of the best hotels that we’ve been too where the food has to be rated 10/10. There was a mixture of indian (our favourite), Chinese, Italian, meats. It was delicious! A very special thanks to the Indian chef, Veer who went out of his way to make us special indian food and it was amazing. His friendliness and service could not be faulted. If you love indian food, Veer is the man! Also thank you to Ramjuttun who is by the dessert area who made my partner’s favourite dessert – fried Banana with cinnamon! The only critism I would say is that the restaurant Deer Hunter is a no go, we had high expectations for this restaurant, but we ended up finding a fly on our uncooked chicken and had to leave. But don’t let this put you off as the food in the buffet was properly cooked and tasted amazing!!!Water sports – it’s actually good that the hotel provides free water sport activities to its guests. The only thing to be aware of is that during high tides and winds, sometimes we didn’t get a chance to try them as often as we should have. Special thanks – as mentioned above, special thanks to the Indian chef Veer, Jessen (our room cleaner) for always making beautiful things out of the towels and for cleaning our room everyday, Simon at hospitality (near the reception) – your friendliness and hospitality was much appreciated, the pizza lady in the evening for making us fresh samosas and last but not least, Sanjeev who was very helpful during our breakfast and lunch and ensured we got the best table with a lovely view and everyone who made our stay that much more pleasant and enjoyable. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a relaxing and enjoyable holiday. Although the hotel is pricey, you get what you pay for and you won’t be let down! AMAZING VIEWS, SERVICE, POOL AND BEACH! We will definitely be back. From the Shah’s!
Awful ! Do not go.
We had had a wonderful holiday til we got to this hotel. Issues 1. We were spoken to in French, the entertainment was French focused and if we had known we would never have gone. 2. The buffet food was very poor and not 5 star 3. The service at all the bars was very very slow. 4. No poolside or beach side bar service. 5. Beach ok but not the wow we were expecting 6. Scuba diving was not very good quality. Wouldn't go for this. 7. Our room had a broken door handle to the toilet and it took 3 days and lots of phone calls for them to fix. Again not 5 star. 8. People were allowed to smoke everywhere and it was horrible. Not family friendly 9. Not enough tennis courts. We tried to book on our first day but all booked up. 10. The room was not fumigated for insects and my husband got bitten to death. We had been on a safari and Cape town...no bites and within 12 hours he had 20 bad bites. The room wasn't treated during our stay. 11. Staff at the hotel complained to us that their suggestions werent being listened to and the hotel was much worse now than other hotels than the Lux. Now I spent extended time giving feedback to the general manager at various points in our holiday and he said thank you and nodded. But nothing changed. They did give us a meal at the a la carte but as it was French style food my husband didnt eat it. For £1000 per night this is not what we wanted or expected. This ruined our holiday. We followed up with a detailed letter of complaint to our tour operator Audley travel to try and get some kind of compensation or recognition from the hotel. And the hotels response was 'they had acted on our feedback '. Well how does that help our holiday !! Audley gave us £200 compensation, but nothing from the hotel. Due to what we experienced we will neither recommend the hotel or Mauritius.
