Very poor service and we have not even arrived for our stay at the lodge yet!
We have booked 4 nights at Kilaguni Serena Safari Lodge from the 30th of December to the 3rd of January and we have been trying to arrange and get clarity on the activities and what is offered at the lodge before we arrive. Email responses are poor and not clear in one go and just back and forth emails. No assistance to offer us packages to make it a memorable stay we eventually booked with an outside company to do the game drives. No clear details as to what is in the room (hairdryers, plugs etc) I have just sent an email to book a breakfast.....will await their response. They take days to reply. I do hope that the service at the lodge is better than what we are experiencing now before arriving.
wow wow wow
Wow!! That is all I can say! From the moment you arrive the place and the staff and just special. The views are amazing, the rooms so comfortable. We were lucky to have one on the ground floor near the waterhole so lots of activity from the moment we woke up. The only drawback was that we only stayed 1 night on our Safari tour. Special place made for a special holiday. Cant wait to go back
Serena Lodges always excellent - also Kilaguni Tsavo West
Although in Tsavo West game viewing is difficult because of more and more green growing bush, Kilaguni is an amazing safari destination. Ideal starting point to Poachers Lookout, Roaring Rocks, Mzima Springs, Rhino Sanctuary, Tsavo River, Sheitani Lavafields and caves. The Lodge itself with premium accommodation, illuminated watering hole, well maintained pool, friendly and helpful staff, tasteful food. If you are in a hurry prefer Mtito Andei Entrance instead of Tsav Gate, even if you arrive from the coast or Tsavo East.
Perfect location for animal viewing
Excellent lodge built like a hotel, no tents here. Very spacious and comfortable rooms convenient to dining area. The dining area is the center piece as it overlooks a water source and the elephants, cape buffalo and every other critter comes to drink day and night. A leopard showed up one night and the staff will wake you if you desire to view unique sightings. Food was good, not great. Staff is very friendly and helpful.
Best view we had in our safari trip!
I wrote a first short review about Kilaguni a few days ago. After a situation at the restaurant that made me upset, I felt urged to write a negative review right away. I recognize now, after staying two days at Kilaguni, that not deleting that first review would have been extremely unfair to the hotel’s amazing facitilies and to the caring staff. So here’s a final and honest review about Kilaguni: This was the first time we entered a hotel and gasped. I mean, we were pretty lucky with hotel choices, we stayed at really good places, but the view that welcomed us at Kilaguni has no comparison. We were marveled. The hotel decor is just amazing. Before coming to Kenya, I imagined my dream hotels to be like this and I’m glad this hotel marked the end of our safari trip. The rooms are very comfortable, with great beds, big bathrooms and balconies that face the waterhole. We were able to watch animals from there, and some came pretty close to our balcony. At night, we were able to see and hear the laughing hyenas. Amazing! Being an iced coffee lover, I was so happy to see at Kilaguni something I had never seen in any hotel - and we travel a lot - an iced coffee menu, which I pretty much took advantage of, sipping on delicious ones while admiring the view from the restaurant. The candle light dinners also added a nice touch to our stay! The staff is great, specially Isaac, who always greeted us with such a kind smile on his face. He always took the time to chat with us and give recommendations. We will also not forget Sebastian, who was always loving to us and even made the effort to come say goodbye at the gate of the hotel. The staff knows how to make you feel special! Talking about feeling special, we were given a bottle of wine for our honeymoon celebration as a surprise! We were very happy! The only thing we did not enjoy that much was the food for lunch and dinner (we did enjoy breakfast). But we do understand that food is a matter of taste. Actually, on the last night, when we were offered the menu a la carte, we found the food pretty good. I also enjoyed the hotel store, something I’m never interested in. But at Kilaguni we found interesting and different stuff at reasonable prices, something rare at hotels. We bought some souvenirs and a beautiful rustic map! We dragged our way out of there, because we really didn’t want to go. We gazed at the view for about 5 minutes, before we grabbed our stuff and went to our car.
