Not the best but 5 stars
We stay here during June holiday. A lot of events going on at the hotel and we can only manage to book there 5 nights. The pool is nice for the kids. We booked the room just behind the lift. I can’t rem the room number. 3 adults and 1 child with big connecting corner room. Very comfortable bed and very spacious. In our room, 1 king bed and 2 twin bed. And 2 toilet. The view is road view but quiet. I want to stay there again.
Large luxurious hotel
Our biggest concern was it location, turns out walking down the steps from the side of the pool it’s about three city blocks to the main strip in Sorrento. Hotel is luxurious recently renovated. Large pleasant lobby unlike most other Sorrento hotels, great facilities, family friendly. If you want to experience city but come back to comfort, this for you. If you are looking for a boutique local experience keep looking.
Southern Italy at Its Best
My husband and I stayed for 3 days in September. It's a really nice time of the year in Southern Italy. The hotel has a very open lobby/bar area. We had drinks at the bar a couple of nights and it was relaxing, not overly crowded. The rooms were super clean, large bathroom, and a great view. The hotel management really went above and beyond for us for our anniversary. We felt extremely special. The GM, Valeria, has lived in Sorrento her entire life, and it really shows how much she cares about the hotel and surrounding area. The executive lounge has one of the best views ever. You can see the hills and the ocean, and the Prosecco is flowing! The lounge has plenty of snacks and tapas all day, and a nice happy hour. The breakfast buffet is beautifully spread out in a ballroom type of room. So many delicious items to choose from including hot breakfast items, desserts, salad bar, fruit bar, fresh orange juice machine where you drop the oranges in and it makes the juice, cheese and meat station, breads, and delicious cappuccinos. Margherita at the breakfast check in was so kind each day with a friendly smile. Hotel location is great. Before we went to Sorrento, I was under the impression that you had to take a car to go anywhere around the hotel, but that it not true. We walked so many places, to the train station, to shopping and restaurants. It is on a hill, which gives it a beautiful view, but the hill is easy to walk up or down. The hotel was close enough to do a half day tour to Pompeii, which I highly recommend with a tour guide as a must. We also had a most memorable dinner at a nearby restaurant which is about a 5 minute cab ride. You may wonder why not to walk to the restaurant, and it is because the roads are very narrow. In fact, the cabs don't even go to the restaurant, only the drivers that work at the restaurant can pick you up. You must visit this incredible restaurant with delicious seafood and so much more. The restaurant is private and intimate and is named Donna Sofia and is a tribute to Sophia Loren. It's also not too expensive and quite a memory. You will never forget the ride. Because the Hilton Sorrento is so well located, the service is special and given graciously and with much care, and the breakfast buffet is amazing, we will definitely return to this fantastic hotel!
Poor breakfast and staff, great view
We stayed at this property for 4 nights in November and found it to be very average. The staff are not helpful at all and nothing like what they are in Hilton hotels in other parts of Europe. The hotel was undergoing renovation and parts were shut for guests. The most disappointing bit is the breakfast. There are very limited options for hot breakfast and it is the same layout everyday The view from the hotel is great, however hotel guests cannot go to the rooftop bar without paying a cover charge of €39 Parking is also a challenge and costs €17 Overall, there is not a lot of value in this property
Amazing views & good facilities.
The hotel location couldn’t be better for panoramic views overlooking Sorrento, which in itself is very pretty. The hotel is big, with a large open reception area & welcoming staff. As soon as you pass through reception, it opens out into the lounge/bar area & this is where the views engulf you. Totally stunning! Mountains, sea & 360 hillside views, which are incredible. The hotel offers a lovely outdoor pool & garden area, with a gorgeous orchard which is recognised throughout Sorrento, with Limes, Lemons, Pomelo & oranges. There’s also a small indoor plunge pool, & gym area. As this was a business trip, it was really the conference facilities I used, which were great! Huge spacious rooms, great auditorium’s and good areas for ‘break out’ sessions. Tea & coffee facilities were very good and the delicious sweet pastries and treats were divine! The hotel rooms & overall decor is dated, with lots of orange & brightly coloured murals on each floor. The bed was ok, good sized, but not amazing. The room was spacious as was the bathroom which had a good power shower over the bath. However the best thing about this room was again the view, absolutely stunning, even in the mountain clouds & rain. I didn’t think breakfast or the buffet lunch options were great. Not, particularly Itailian, more Mediterranean, and every meal I had lacked seasoning, inspiration and choice. I had limited time to visit Sorrento, but what I did see was really pretty, however I did visit out of season, so sadly didn’t get to sightsee much & a lot of restaurants & shops in town were closed.
