Another great stay
This was our 8th visit to the hotel and once again it didn't disappoint despite the COVID situation. At all times we felt really safe with lots of sanitiser stations, all staff wearing face masks and keep all areas spotlessly clean. Guests are required to wear masks walking around the indoor areas of the hotel, but this is to be expected. For the week we stayed, occupancy was less than 10% which was really disappointing for the hotel but did make for very personal service for guests despite the reduced number of staff in the hotel. Our room was sealed for arrival and kept clean throughout our stay. As already mentioned in other reviews, breakfast was taken at the pool bar with this being outdoors and safety once again being the priority. Thanks to the two Pepe's for excellent service and we were more than happy with the reduced breakfast selection. Only a minor gripe, but being outdoors did bring a lot of wasps around the dining space. Pool areas were clean and sunbeds well spaced. As Hilton Diamond members we did have access to the roof top Exec Lounge, so spent most of our time sunbathing in that area. Snacks and drinks in the lounge were all sealed and/or bottled again for safety reasons. Whilst there was some criticism at the lack of choice in the lounge, I expect moving to these types of item will be increasing the cost for the hotel. During our stay we enjoyed excellent weather (touching 30C most days) and we will certainly consider travelling in September again. Check-in and advanced information of what to expect at the hotel was kindly provided by Danielle on Front Desk. Sorrento town was as beautiful as ever, but like the hotel, it was very quiet due to the COVID situation. Most restaurants were filled with locals rather than tourists, but we do hope the crowds will come back to Sorrento in the near future for the sake of the local economy. We will certainly be back again.
Just returning from 4 days here. Although we are all under the shadow of Covid the hotel is coping so well. Room immaculate and sealed for cleanliness when we arrived. Room and bathroom lovely. Good linen and towels. Breakfast was served by the pool as the hotel’s not as busy as normal.breakfast is al la carte as buffet obviously not allowed. Very nice. Coffee excellent. Pool and sunbeds lovely.. not too busy at the moment. Hotel gardens are delightful and great views. Only 2 things not great- Water pressure for bath and shower slow. Food quite good for breakfast and lunch but the one dinner we had in the Sorrento restaurant was below par. Overpriced and not tasty. Apart from that service and stay wonderful.
Need to sort out breakfast service ASAP
At first this hotel appears luxurious but it actually doesn't have the luxury magic that it should do. The rooms were fairly clean, but I would say the balconies never get cleaned though as it was filthy out there. If there's one area this hotel need to improve it's breakfast. You could not get served and out in less than an hour, too slow! A couple of the waiters we had were so useless, they just need to be dismissed. Pool was very busy at weekends and highly unappealing during these days. It also closed too early in the evening. Gym was extremely hot, the air conditioning unit did nothing to cool the room. It was very hard to do a decent workout in there. Due to Covid only one family were allowed in per hour, so make sure you book in. The restaurant and bar area were nice and the service was excellent. More vegetable dishes were needed on the menus though. All in all I feel I have been fair and that this hotel was overpriced and over star rated.
So happy to be back here - fantastic stay as always
We were really pleased to be able to get a holiday this year after all that has been going on. So happy that the hotel was open and that we could travel. The hotel felt safe and most guests were abiding by the current restrictions with masks, etc. Hand sanitiser is provided all over the hotel. Rooms are cleaned on request. We were so happy to have the best and kindest housekeeper in Italy (Rosaria) for the 2nd year running! She is so kind to our daughter, Grace, and so friendly. Breakfast was in the poolside cafe area. It worked well although can get a bit busy if you leave it until a bit later. The executive lounge was also fine. It’s not like it has been previously but everyone worked hard, especially Domenico, to keep everyone happy and the single portion food and drink stocked up. We were happy that the new outdoor BBQ/Pizza restaurant, L’Agrumeto, is open now and had 2 lovely dinners there. It was great to see Nicola (Nicki) working there and he looked after us well. The pizzas were very nice and the pork chop was also delicious. It’s a nice setting amongst the fruit trees in the garden. Of course we enjoyed the outdoor pools, the weather and the views! We couldn’t really ask for more from a holiday, especially in the current circumstances. We will be back!
