Stroll around the genteel streets to window-shop the upmarket boutiques and admire grand, historic homes. The Ven’s 231 well-equipped rooms range from queens to suites; each furnished in bold blues and yellows – a colour scheme which is carried through to the rooftop pool. There is a relaxed dining venue called Fred & Stilla, which doubles as a breakfast spot and an evening bar and dining space, and you can order coffee and pastries from the café menu in the bright and breezy lobby area. Alongside the rooftop pool, where guests can join yoga classes in season, you’ll find a relaxed lounge area set around a ‘lawn’ where you can order a drink and sit and enjoy views of leafy ‘diplomatic’ Washington.
