Hyatt Regency Newport Beach

Relaxing beach retreat

Oh, how we love Newport Beach. And the Hyatt Regency is a plum place to stay and revel in the SoCal lifestyle epitomised in this enclave of LA.

Set in 26 acres of landscaped gardens, Hyatt Regency Newport Beach is a large, family-friendly resort with just over 400 comfortable guestrooms. An outdoor pool complete with waterslide promises to keep the kids happy, but there’s plenty to get them out and about too. At the hotel, you can hire bikes, play shuffleboard or try golf. In this part of California, it’s easy to get to the beaches, theme parks, and shopping areas, or take to the water for whale watching or a day trip to Catalina Island. When evening rolls around, get into a gooey mess as you toast s’mores over one of the hotel’s firepits.

Why we love Hyatt Regency Newport Beach

  • Many of Newport Beach attractions are within walking distance or a short bike ride away

  • Families love the fact you are just a 20-minute drive from Disneyland® and Knotts Berry Farm

  • The coast off Newport Beach is one of the few places in the world where you can go whale watching year round

  • Take the catamaran across to Catalina Island for snorkelling

There are plenty of restaurants in the area to get to know. But on days when you want to keep things simple, the hotel’s Californian-inspired seafood grill SHOR is a good bet and the Lobby Market and Lounge is a winner for on-the-go snacks. And on pool days, service from the Oasis Pool Bar means you don’t have to leave your sunbed for sustenance.

SHOR
The resort's main restaurant, specialises in seafood grills and Southern Californian cuisine.

Lobby Market and Lounge
Serving hot sandwiches, smoothies and coffee for breakfast and spicy tuna bowls and steamed garlic clams for lunch.

Oasis Pool Bar
You don't have to venture far for snacks, (including kids' favourites) and drinks if you are spending the day at the pool.

Containing scrambled eggs, bacon, cheese potatoes and peppers, start your day at the Lobby Market and Lounge with a SoCal Burrito.

Rent a beach cruiser bike and cycle to Balboa Island or the Newport Beach Back Ecological Reserve, shop at Fashion Island or Lido Marina Village or take a tour of an Orange Coast boutique winery or local brewery.

There are three swimming pools here and the Oasis Pool is ideal for families with a waterslide, splash pad and water guns.

Tours of the coast by kayak and outrigger canoe can be arranged at the Newport Aquatic Centre whilst diving and snorkelling can be organised from Catalina Island.

Families are welcome here and there is plenty of suitable accommodation including the Three Bedroom Villas.

Compete with a game of shuffleboard, table tennis, spend a day at the Oasis swimming pool or rent some bikes to explore the coast. End your holiday at one of the beach bonfires, s'mores roasting is almost compulsory.

Guests have free green fees for the nine-hole Back Bay Golf Course.
