Day 1

Hanoi

You’ll arrive in the capital of Vietnam and head to your chosen hotel. Step out onto the busy streets where the calmness of t'ai chi at dawn collides with the cacophony of daily life. At every turn, there’s an aromatic food stall, a colourful building, or an ancient monument to catch your eye.

Days 2 & 3

Sapa

The journey begins with a morning departure from your Hanoi hotel, followed by a five to six hour drive to Sapa, a mountain town renowned for its impressive scenery, consistently temperate climate, and vibrant cultural diversity. You'll spend 2 nights here with time to visit rural farming communities in remote villages.

Days 4 & 5

Hanoi

Leave Sapa and take a walk to Sin Suoi Ho, a rural village surrounded by terraced hills. Visit local homes to learn about daily life, then continue to Ma Tra, known for its traditional crafts and mountain views. Return to Hanoi for a further two nights. You'll have another full day to explore the city in more depth.

Day 6

Halong Bay

You’ll be collected from Hanoi for the four-hour drive to Halong Bay to board the elegant Au Co Cruise Ship, where you’ll spend two nights onboard. It would be remiss to visit this part of the world and not see the beautiful Halong Bay. Boarding a traditional-style junk and taking a two-night cruise makes sure you see the best of it at a leisurely pace. There’s the chance to kayak through caves and find a quiet patch on a private beach, too.

Day 7

Halong Bay

Another day, another bay; today you'll head to Lan Ha Bay but not before an optional early morning t'ai chi lesson and a light breakfast. You could go kayaking at Luon Cave and swimming of Titov island or visit Tung Saum, a pearl farm surrounded by limestone karsts.

Days 8 & 9

Ninh Binh

After disembarking your cruise, you’ll experience Halong Bay staying on land in Ninh Binh for 2 nights.

Days 10 to 12

Hue

You’ll take the overnight train from Hanoi to Hue (alternatively an internal flight can be included) to spend the next couple of nights in a countryside retreat outside Hue. You’re here long enough to spend a day exploring the highlights of Vietnam’s former capital, possibly including a traditional dragon boat trip.

Days 13 to 15

Hoi An

Today you'll travel from Hue to picturesque Hoi An for 3 nights.

Day 16

Ho Chi Minh City

Next is Ho Chi Minh City, formerly known as Saigon, where you’ll stay for two nights with a Mekong Delta overnight cruise sandwiched in the middle — just enough time to scratch the surface of this bustling metropolis, that’s deservedly famous for its intriguing history, vibrant culture, and delicious street food. Your centrally situated hotel means Ben Thanh Market and the War Remnants Museum are within walking distance.

Day 17

Mekong River Cruise

A transfer collects you from your hotel in Ho Chi Minh City to board the Mekong Eyes ship, where you’ll sail along the Mekong Delta, stopping to explore a village and the orchards surrounding it before re-joining the boat for sunset drinks and dinner while the boat anchors overnight.

Day 18

Ho Chi Minh City

The Mekong Eyes sets sail before sunrise, and you’ll have an early breakfast to watch the locals on the riverbanks going about their early morning work. You’ll check out of your cabin and hop on board a sampan – a small Vietnamese boat – and visit a floating market and a local family who make traditional noodles. Return to Ho Chi Minh by road.

Day 19

Depart

A private transfer will take you to the airport for your flight home or onward travel.

Extend your holiday

Phu Quoc

Why not extend your holiday in the best way possible: with a few days of oceanfront relaxation. This time it is the island of Phu Quoc where forests meet tranquil fishing villages or more lively resort areas. Your home for the next four nights at the stylish Sailing Club Signature Resort Phu Quoc which has pool villas and a delightful spa.
