This is a charming and serene property – perfect if you are seeking a great-value beach holiday.
Sometimes a beach holiday should be stripped back to cater for life’s simple pleasures. What we love about this great-value beach retreat is that you can just read a book under the shade of a palm tree, sip on a refreshing cocktail with the sand between your toes or lounge on a bean bag by the pool in the company of family or friends. There’s no pretension and no pressure to do any more than you please. This is a small and comfortable hotel with a small spa providing soothing massages or treatments, and a small kids’ corner – Ayo le Dodo – where your children can make new friends. You don’t need too many distractions when you have a white-sand beach and turquoise lagoon as pretty as those at the Friday Attitude. For a change of scenery – if you require one, that is – you can take a boat over to one of Mauritius’ most spectacular attractions, the Ile aux Cerfs, which is just half an hour away.

With just 50 rooms, it will never feel too crowded here. Choosing the right type is simplified by the fact there are just two – Standard and Family Rooms – both decorated in neutral tones and with natural materials in an uncluttered modern style. Parents will appreciate the fact that there’s a separate bedroom for the children in the Family Rooms.

90° East
Most of your included meals are served at the main restaurant – the open-air buffet venue 90° East. The breakfast has a good selection of local and international dishes, while there are themed nights meaning you should never get bored with the culinary offerings.
Kot Nou
The resort’s signature restaurant Kot Nou is open for dinner four days a week and gives you a real taste of the island. Pre-booking is required.
Taba-J
An alternative option for lunch is the food cart Taba-J, a staple of all the island’s Attitude properties. Here, you can enjoy typical Mauritian street food and return later for a selection of sweet treats.
Le Patio
In the evening, the cosy bar has sofas in the courtyard where you can unwind with a glass of Mauritian-made lychee wine and the island’s sega music playing in the background.
WE Beach Lounge
Open from 11am to 11.30pm, this rustic lounge is the perfect shady spot to sit with a coffee or cold drink and your toes in the sand.
Teabaz
At this self-service tea bar, guests can help themselves to a fragrant, fruity infusion and a pastry any time from 10.30am to 6pm.
You won’t want to miss the authentic Mauritian flavours at Taba-J, which serves up delicious street food staples such as pepper cakes and rotis.

At the small Spa POZ, the focus is on the natural world. Here you can enjoy a pampering ‘ritual from our roots’, as the massage menu puts it, that reflects the island’s multicultural influences. Sustainability is also key, with the all-natural products coming from a local family-run company whose commitment to the environment is exemplary.
There’s no gym at Friday Attitude, but you can get your heart pumping with an energetic game of beach volleyball or table tennis, or try something gentler such as darts or pėtanque.
There is a PADI dive centre nearby where novices and more experienced divers can arrange courses and excursions at their own expense.
Complimentary snorkelling equipment is available, plus shuttles to Ile aux Cerfs and trips by glass-bottom boat.
Kitesurfing can be arranged for an extra cost, as can day trips on the resort’s own catamaran.
Attitude has a zero single-use plastic policy, so you’ll be given a reusable flask for drinking water and there are glass jars for coffee, sugar, shampoo and so on in the room that you can refill in the Bulk Shop. The products in the spa are handmade locally using natural ingredients and come in fully recyclable packaging. In the restaurants, ingredients are locally grown and sourced, which means fewer food miles and more money for the farmers. One of Attitude’s many marine-friendly policies is providing free mineral sunscreen to all of its guests.
