Just 14 ocean-view chalets are perched on the Chamarel hills of southwest Mauritius and feel like a secret the island has kept for grown-ups who want to slow down.
This is a small, low-key hideaway, stitched into the hills of Chamarel. The chalets look out toward the theatrical silhouette of Le Morne and the Indian Ocean beyond, and the mood is intimate, a little romantic, and gloriously unhurried. Meals happen at the SeaForest Restaurant beside the infinity pool, a relaxed spot with sweeping views over the forests and the ocean. The kitchen serves local and international dishes, including estate-sourced venison alongside other seasonal options, and opens for breakfast, lunch and dinner against that panoramic backdrop.

This isn’t a boot camp in paradise. There’s no spa programme or timetable to obey, just a pool beside the restaurant that’s perfect for gentle dips with a view rather than serious lengths. It’s not huge, but it suits the mood exactly, a place to cool off and drift for a while. Beyond that, the surrounding lanes and forest trails invite low-key walks more than punishing workouts.
The chalets sit inland, so the sea is a short drive rather than at the doorstep, but the hotel can help arrange sea-facing excursions along the coast. Big-game fishing trips, catamaran outings with stops for snorkelling, and visits to crystal lagoon spots are all within reach, giving you easy access to the Indian Ocean’s calm waters and coral reefs.
