Savoy Hotel, Nelson
Downtown Funk
A family-friendly downtown hotel with a swanky rooftop deck with a sauna, hot tub and swimming pool.
Historic charm meets modern style at The Savoy. Nestled right in the heart of Nelson, location-wise, it’s pretty hard to beat. Think breathtaking mountain vistas and a bunch of boutique shops, bars and restaurants right on the doorstep, giving you plenty to see and do without having to venture too far out. As for the hotel itself, it’s perfectly polished without feeling overly fancy or formal. Natural textures bring the outside in for that seamless indoor-outdoor living feel, while the family-friendly focus makes for a welcoming vibe throughout. In a nutshell, there’s a lot to love, but the pièce de résistance has got to be the rooftop deck. With a sauna, hot tub and fire pit, there’s no better spot to kick back after a busy day exploring.
Why we love Savoy Hotel, Nelson
-
It’s family-friendly, but still feels upmarket, so you can enjoy the best of both worlds.

The rooftop hot tub and fire pit are a major win, especially with views out towards the mountains and Kootenay Lake.

You’re right on Baker Street, so Nelson’s cafés, restaurants, bars, shops and galleries are all within easy walking distance.
-
The historic building, local character and laid-back atmosphere make it feel much more like a cool independent stay than a generic hotel.
Facilities
While there aren’t loads of dining options at The Savoy, the ones that are here are well worth shouting about. Busaba Thai Cafe and Sakura Sushi are perfect for those moments when you’d rather stay put, serving oriental cuisine that packs a serious punch. If you do feel like heading out for food, Baker Street is packed with independent restaurants, cafés, breweries and bars, so you’re never too far from your next foodie fix.
Busaba Thai Cafe
Busaba serves authentic Thai food in a stylish, colourful setting. There’s an open kitchen where you can watch the chefs work their magic, with a menu packed with classic Thai crowd-pleasers like pad Thai, papaya salad, tom yum, drunken noodles and curries. The atmosphere feels fun and unfussy, making it an easy choice after a day exploring Nelson. Oh, and if you’re craving something sweet, the bubble tea is a great way to round things off.
Sakura Sushi
Cosy booths and a roaring fireplace give Sakura Sushi a welcoming feel that will keep you coming back time and time again - and it’s not just sushi that’s on the menu. Choose from fresh sashimi, nigiri, gyozas, bento boxes, tuna tataki and around 30 different sushi rolls. There are loads of vegan and vegetarian options available, too.
