On advice from our travel agent , we decided to try Playa Blanca on the South end of Lanzarote in order to avoid the wind which has blighted a previous holiday many years ago. The Princesa Yaiza hotel only offers suites and we decided to push the boat out and book half board. This comprised a buffet breakfast each morning and a very swish buffet dinner in the evening. The breakfast choices were extensive and there were plentiful waiters buzzing around to serve tea/coffee or to aid more elderly guests to carry plates. There was a choice of two locations, one overlooking the sea with an outside terrace, and the other inside. Terrific. The evening buffet also alternates between neighbouring dining rooms, both of which are extremely spacious and uncrowded. Guests are met at the door with a welcoming drink and conducted to the table. A nice touch. Every day has a culinary theme with a chef also dedicated to prepare what is referred to as a gourmet dish. Both my wife and I are experienced cruisers and, of course, the cruise ships pride themselves on the quality of the food. We both agreed that the range and quality of the seafood starters and the the sweets were way better than what we'd experienced before. Here again there is a dedicated chef to prepare fish or meat dishes to order, in addition to the large range and variety of the buffet offerings, both hot and cold. Amazing. However, the best was yet to come. On arrival we'd been told that, instead of the buffet, we could reserve table at one of the hotels 3 restaurants. There are located at the rear of the hotel, down by the beach walkway and are also open to the public. We were each allowed 25 euros towards our food bill, and were responsible for paying for drinks and any food above that amount. Wish we'd gone earlier. The food and service in the Spanish Tapas restaurant was outstanding. The meal on our last night in the co-located Italian restaurant was even better, helped by the choice of excellent wines on offer. There are three swimming pools, one small one for children and families beside the jacuzzi and one where it is possible to get a decent swim of some 25 metres. I liked the fact that the umbrellas were fixed in the ground and that the lifeguard helped guests to erect these when needed. The animation team were friendly and took enormous pains with the young families, while not ingnoring the more advanced in years guests who were in the majority. Our suite was very spacious and we appreciated the use of a fridge and microwave as well as the usual tea/coffee making facilities. Our suite had two large TVs with all 4 UK terrestrial channels - wonderful for catching the 6 nations rugby and familiar programmes. Anything but incessant and boring BBC news 24! The only improvement we could suggest would be to have music before the evening entertainment begins to allow guests to dance. We are keen ballroom dancers and would have appreciated doing this after dinner. Of course, the main attraction is the wonderful weather and the quality of the excursions and landscape on offer in Lanzarote. We've booked again. Fingers crossed for next year.
Perfect for a family holiday
We brought our then three month old to Princes Yaiza on her first holiday. The hotel is perfect for anyone traveling with young children. Although our little girl was too young to participate in any of the entertainment aimed at children the hotel was perfect as it had all the facilities needed when you’ve a child (microwave, travel cot etc). Also as it’s a family hotel we also didn’t feel uncomfortable taking our little girl to the restaurants onsite! There’s also a shop that’s part of the hotel so very handy for stocking up the room. Hotel is just off the strip of bars and restaurants in Playa Blanca so very central. I wouldn’t recommend to couples or groups but to anyone with kids it really is the ideal hotel!
Ten day break
All excellent ...well run hotel with lovely breakfast overlooking the beach. Sea view room was not the best but did not affect our enjoyment. Games facilities vg. Teppanyaki restaurant was excellent. Great location near to other restaurants. Would recommend and look forward to returning some day
Loved the hotel. Very spacious room, very comfortable and clean. Very friendly staff. Good pool facilities - plenty of loungers and towels. Food good. Lack of complimentary water in room and at dinner meant I didn’t give it a 5 rating.
A relaxing break
We have stayed here many times but this time seemed better than ever a special mention to the hotel manager Oscar he must never go home you see him all times in the hotel and always with a smile on his face and he always takes time to speak with the guests staying here we will definitely be back soon
