I recently found a review of this hotel that I had done in 2010 and having stayed for 10 nights in November 2019 I am happy to say that it is still as good as then. Great room with excellent facilities, beach immediately outside the back door and just down from the hotel's pools, super breakfast buffet etc. Particular thanks to Paula and Elizabetta at reception who smilingly and quickly resolved a small issue for us. Thanks also to Diana at customer relations for her smiles and interest in us as customers and our needs. Not cheap but good value and a great spot for a holiday. Will return hopefully.
Excellent hotel for families - excellent kids facilities and food perfect for children. Many of the people we spoke to on holiday were return guests. Our daughter threw her teddy bear over the balcony into a difficult to access space. it was retrieved by the staff with minimal fuss and placed on the bed for her.
November 2019. overall - OK, but could be better. emailed hotel prior to arrival asking for quiet room/away from lifts/high floor/afternoon sun etc etc. shown to our room on arrival and it was on the same floor as reception, the first room you come to, beside a lift, overlooking a car park and with no sun. so not a great start! thankfully we were moved within half an hour, after a lengthy discussion with reception who initially told me that the hotel was fully booked. mmmmm. food - not many vegetables and not great if you were vegetarian. avoid piazetta. buffet, soggy pizza, cold pasta. geared to children. drink - wine expensive and not very good, ended up drinking water only with our meals by then end of the week restaurants - piazetta - dismal decor, avoid. la hacienda - really nice, can eat breakfast outside on the terrace, however only opens at 9am, and if you arrive after 0910 then you will not get a table outside. only open one evening during our stay. this is by far the nicest restaurant, why is this not open all the time?? children - lots of overtired miserable pre school children at dinner. noisy. room - we booked a suite which was well worth the extra money, large and comfortable location - excellent staff - thin on the ground, but pleasant marketing - this hotel is branded as a five star, sadly for me, the food let it down. we have stayed in many five star hotels in the canaries over the years and this food experience is the worst by far. the hotel was branded by jet 2 as "indulgent escapes",when we booked, then rebranded before we travelled as "family luxe", disappointing for us, however i think this is a better reflection of the hotel. if you have children and are looking for a hotel to meet your needs and theirs then this may be for you. if you are a couple who are looking for a quiet relaxing high quality break in the sun, then think again.
A true 5 Star
My wife and I have just returned home from spending a week at The Princesa Yaiza and must say it is a truly 5 Star hotel. Our accommodation was roomy and comfortable, the staff go out of their way to please and the restaurant food is both of good choice and quality. We have in fact just cancelled a planned holiday to Tenerife and rebooked to return to the PY instead. Thank you to all concerned for making our stay a pleasant one The Kirbys
Fabulous hotel, especially if you can justify a suite with sea view, and eat in the a la carte restaurants. Our room and view were great. Il de Lobos restaurant for breakfast is lovely, and a great sea view, and is also exceptional for dinner. The Italian resaurant Don Giovanni was also excellent. The food at the Tapanaki restaurant was very good, though th chef lacked 'showmanship'. Pools are lovely, and the evening music in the bar close to Reception was very good.
