Hotel will not refund due to COVID-19
My family and I were due to stay for the 5th time in Princesa Yaiza this June but unfortunately due to COVID-19 the hotel are unable to accommodate us. We had booked directly via the hotel website and they said on the 28th April they would refund me within 60 days (a more than adequate period to process a refund), i.e. 27th June. However today they informed me that it would take ‘many more months’ to process my refund. This is a disgraceful way to treat long time and loyal customers. My advice would be to avoid this hotel - and definitely avoid paying anything in advance / up-front. Once they have your money they won’t give it back to you - even though it was not your fault they can’t accommodate you.
Happy third visit
On arrival I was greeted by a most friendly staff who offered a welcome drink while going through the check-in procedures most proficiently. For the second time I stayed in a comfortable minisuite with direct pool and sea view. Having come to relax and recover from a difficult time the corona lockdown after 2 days didn't affect me too much. Restaurant services had to be reduced to 1 buffet and 1 à la carte restaurant but the quality serving was maintained even in these stressful circumstances. The spacious layout and luxurious amenities and the efforts of the staff helped us through this demanding period. I certainly hope to come back a fourth time in better times using the ideally situated hotel as a base for further exploration of Lanzarote.
Return visit and certainly not our last
This was our third holiday at the Princesa Yaiza. Walking in I could feel myself relax immediately. This sense of relaxation only increased as we checked in and headed towards our room. Travelling with my mother we appreciate the space and comfort of the suite. I certainly appreciate the REN toiletries and my mother the wardrobe space. We slept well, sprawled on the sofas and lazed on the balcony. This was just what we needed. The Guest Relations team were truly excellent. All queries were dealt with promptly and efficiently from the time we booked our holiday through to the day we left. Truly excellent. We had opted for HB deluxe as it is easier for us, my mother has limited mobility, to eat in the hotel rather than making use of the many restaurants in Playa Blanca. I enjoyed the calm and service of breakfast in the Isla de Lobos restaurants. Our favourite restaurant has to be the Japanese. We realised that perhaps we had been their too often when the Head Waiter pointed out that I had forgotten to order some dishes that we had asked for each previous time. I disagreed and said I ordered everything. Then I paused and realised he was right! The Isla de Lobos is a special restaurant. We opted for the a la carte menu. Some of the dishes would not have been out of place in a MIchelin starred restaurant, exquisite to look at and amazing flavours. I have read criticisms of the Italian and Tapas restaurants in reviews. I suspect much of this is from not having picked the 'right' item from the menu. We had excellent service in these restaurants as we did in the other two restaurants. I think the Tapas menu could have more options but we deliberately chose some dishes on more than one occasion. The ice cream parlour doesn't have the most inviting interior but the girl who staffed it more than made up for it with her friendliness and the fact she remembered what our regular order was very quickly. Okay the ice cream wasn't bad either! The musicians who played outside by the restaurants were very good and really added to the ambience. The dreaded issue of sunbed availability simply didn't happen. There was plenty of space around the pool. One of the only criticisms I had was the lack of pool service. It was extremely rare for any waiter to appear before midday and infrequently in the afternoon. Yet whenever they did, there were lots of orders for them. Once all this coronavirus business is over, we are going to need another holiday. I know where we will be coming.
Beautiful place under other circumstances
Great hotel, staff is extremely good Unfortunetly we were the week that the Corona started. The Hotel was closing. No entertainment during our stay We could not leave the resort anymore after the first day. Even then the staff supported us perfectly. We got e beautiful room with a great view. The swimmingpool was closed but sunbathing was allowed by the hotel. Also the drinks were no problem. The Italian restaurant and the lobby bar were perfect during the week I really hope for everybody that this will finish soon
Review of Thanks and Support
It feels very strange writing a review with the current situation we find ourselves in with the pandemic, however, I stayed at this hotel in February with my Mum, Dad and Sister. It was our third stay and this hotel always impresses us - the staff are super friendly, attentive and great, the food is lovely , but overall everything about this hotel is class and a luxury. Probably my favourite hotel. But I write this review mainly to say that I wish every single person associated with this hotel my best wishes, stay strong and healthy, and I am sure once this epidemic is over, this hotel will continue to blossom. Wishing you all good health over in Lanzarote and I look forward to visiting again . Thanks Elliott Cooksey, 16 .
